I have filled in my entire 2024 return in TT Online, and in doing so, TT made me purchase my product before being able to continue one of the steps. I need to enter a credit under Claim of Right for a repayment, but this is only available in forms mode in the desktop version. I don't want to pay again for a copy of the desktop version, but I cannot get into the desktop software without paying for an access key. Is there a way to refund my online version and just pay for the desktop version? I have been sent to the page to request a refund, and although you can select that your product was TT Online, the instant response after submitting that request is that refunds aren't available for the online version. I don't ever recall having to pay for TT Online until I filed, but this time around I was required to do so.
Yes you can call in and ask to switch to the Desktop Download program since you paid for Online.

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW). Enter some basic information, then go to the state tab and download the state program. Then try to open your existing return, go to FILE - OPEN
