You can try this:

Federal Taxes -> Wages & Income -> I'll choose what I work on -> scroll to the bottom and under Less Common Income select Start (or Update) for Miscellaneous Income.... You'll find all sorts of other income categories in there. If none of those shown fit the bill then pick Other reportable income and you can enter your own description(s) and amount(s).

I am having a problem with income from a Facebook ELN note that had the income it paid me described as "other income".  It is going to Schedule C, but will not let me file my taxes.   All else is done, and the other income I earned for 2019 was $150.00 total.  how do I properly report this income so that I can complete and file my taxes?  Thanks!

From the TurboTax Free online edition, here are the steps:

  • Sign in to your account and select Pick up where you left off
  • At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in schedule C and Enter
  • Select Jump to schedule C
  • Follow prompts

To enter as Other Income, here are the steps:

  • Sign in to your account, select Pick up where you left off
  • To the right upper corner, in the search box, type in "other reportable income" and Enter
  • Select Jump to other reportable income
  • Next screen, Other Wages Received, select No to continue
  • Next screen, scroll down all the way to the bottom, under Other reportable income, select Start
  • Next screen, Any Other Taxable Income? select Yes to continue
  • Enter a description and the amount.

A lump sum social security payment is entered with your 1099-SSA.   You will need to wait until the IRS processes your original tax return that you have already filed.   After it is processed, you can return here for instructions on how to file the amended return.  The IRS will start accepting returns on Feb 12.   And it will take about 21 days to process the original return.

Here is how to add a second W-2

If you haven't already filed your return:

  1. Open (continue) your return if you don't already have it open.
  2. Search for W-2 and select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. We'll take you to a screen where you can click Add a W-2 for [your name or your spouse's name].
  4. Enter the information from the new W-2 on the following screens.

If you have already e-filed, you'll have to wait until your return is either accepted or rejected.

  • If rejected, you can add the W-2 as described above before resubmitting or paper-filing your return.
  • If accepted (or if you have already paper-filed), you'll need to amend your return to add another W-2.

To clarify:

  1. What did you do to receive this income?
  2. Is it Hobby or business? If it is considered self employment, then self employment tax might need to be paid.
  3. Did you perform a service or sell something?
  4. Do you need to amend your tax return?  Every $50 of income adds additional tax if you already have taxable income.

Please provide more details and one of our tax experts will help you.
