The software is installed on your computer, so no passwords are necessary.  You can prepare as many tax returns as you need; there is no limit on preparation.  You can e-file 5 returns with the software.

Yes, but I understand you don't need a password to use the software on your computer, but when you efile if it's for different people can a separate password be created?

Password for what?  You aren’t logging in to anything.  You can save the return file on your computer with a password.

If it's 2 families and you didn't not want the other family to see your preparation  can it be used on 2 computers?  And then when you efile if it's for 2 families, can a separate password be created then?

You can use the software on different computers.  Each family will have a separate tax file, and as long as you each save your tax file to your own separate computer, you will only have access to your return.  Each tax file is separate from the software.  Is that what you are asking??

Each tax file is saved separately from the program.  They end in .tax2018.  Be sure to save each return with a unique name you can tell apart.  Especially if two people have the same first and last names (like a father and son) the second return might overwrite the first person’s return.

The returns are saved in your Documents then in a Turbo Tax folder.  You should also save each return as a pdf file when you are done.  When a return is done and filed you could move it to a flash drive or burn it to a CD.  You will need to have the file ending in .tax2018 to transfer into next year.

You can save each return with a password on the computer.
