How do I reset the medical portion of Turbo Deluxe 2024?

How do I reset the medical portion of Turbo Deluxe 2024 w/o starting all over again with a new return? I need to enter all my Dr and RX bills., premium payments.  I accidentally hit the "no" button when it gave me a particular figure and ow won't allow me to enter anything medical related.  There is no button called reset, nor if it hit update, will it allow me to hit that "yes" button, it is over $$$$$  figure.  thanks

You don’t actually need to reset the whole category -- just edit the entries you’ve already made.  To do this in TurboTax Deluxe Desktop:

  1. Open TurboTax
  2. Select FEDERAL TAXES in the banner
  3. Select Deductions & Credits
  4. On the How do you want to enter your deductions and credits? page, select I'll choose what I work on
  5. On the Your 2024 Deductions & Credits page, select Update to the right of Medical Expenses
  6. Proceed through the following pages, making any adjustments necessary

Having the same issue with Premier.  It says "...the standard deduction save you the most on taxes" but it won't let me go in to change the details.  Is there a way to reset the section to be able to enter additional details?

There is a glitch in the system and it WILL not allow you to edit nor update anything under medical.  I do not know about other fields. I have not yet tried to change anything.  The person below is having the same problem with premium it seems

@megaslam Try this -

Click on Federal.  Click on Deductions & Credits.  Scroll down to the bottom of the Deductions & Credits page and click on Continue.  On one of the following screens will be showing you that the Standard Deduction is right for you.  On that screen, click on the box labeled Change my deduction.  This will allow your to continue your medical expenses.

Thanks for the reply.  Unfortunately that doesn't work.  After I hit update I get the below screen and clicking done goes back to the Deductions & Credits summary.  I've tried to trigger it by starting at the beginning of the section but it's abbreviated prompts and ends up back at the same point.  It does seem like a big glitch.  Note I'm on the desktop version, verified all updates in place and have rebooted.

When you are in Deductions & Credits, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Continue, one of the following screens will show this -

Where you can change to Itemized deductions.

I totally gave up and started my return over again.  There is a BIG glitch in this deluxe 2024 version, that it will NOT allow any editing of medical.  It just will say over and over again.  We have decided stand ded if best for you.  But it won't allow you to start all over and put in your medical bills, premiums, etc.   good luck megaslam

@DoninGA   It doesn't work for me either.  After I click at the button for Done with Deductions and continue though about 7 screens to the Standard Deduction is right for you....then click on Change my deduction and click on itemized deductions of $xx,xxx   it goes directly to Other Tax Situations.   It still doesn't let me enter more Medical.   It lets me enter Charity but I haven't checked other kinds of deductions yet.

@DoninGA   Even when I switch to Forms mode and enter enough Medical over 7.5% AGI   and go back to  the Deduction & Credits list and click on Medical I get.....

This year, you get a tax break for your medical expenses

Your medical expense deduction is $645 this year

BUT it still won't let me type in more medical using Step by Step

@VolvoGirl That is strange as I am not seeing this on my Premier edition for Windows.  You have all the updates, I assume.

I can go to the medical section and enter or delete entries with no problem in step-by-step.

I think I saw a couple in the last few days with this issue.  Can't remember if they were desktop or online users.

Even if I do Search and Jump to Medical I just get the final Medical Deduction screen with Done.   Never checked deductions before so I don't know if something has changed or it was always bad.  You are asking the Mod about it, right?
