How do I change the status of my state return from married filing jointly to married filing separately?

if your federal filing status is change to MFS maybe the state will change also

Are you filing the federal Joint?  You will need to use the desktop program (cd or download).

If you are using the online version it will be cheaper and easier to do it in the desktop version. Contact Customer Service to give you the desktop program download.
