Have downloaded my 2018 tax software. SUffered hard driv e crash. Must reload the softweare. How do I start?

In January, I downloaded the online TurboTax software and began to work toward my 2018 Irs and Maryland taxes.  Suffered an unrecoverable hard drive crash and lost my program files.  Was able to save my data files, however.

Need now to re download the program files.  I recall that I was allowed several (4?) downloads.

Can you assist me so that I can now get back to work?

To access your downloads after purchasing from TurboTax.com, follow these steps.

  1. Sign in to My Downloads.
  2. Click the blue Download arrow for the product you would like to download.
  3. Save the download somewhere on your computer where you can find it – your desktop is a good place.
  4. After the download has finished, install your software by double-clicking the downloaded file.

I've already paid, I think I had just started. Did think to get an extension but that's expired, right.

Extensions are good until 10/15/19 for the personal return ... so log in and complete the return to efile it.

You had to file an extension by April 15, 2019.  Don't worry about that now.  You can still efile until Oct 15.   After that you have to print and mail it.  If you are getting a refund there is no penalty for filing late.  If you have a tax due the payment was still due back on April 15.  So if you pay late the IRS might send you a bill for interest.

I paid FIRST! Can't file without paying again? How to get a refund or provide proof of payment: $84.95?

Online tax preparation and e-filing for 2018 returns is now permanently closed.  You had until midnight on Tuesday, October 15 to finish and attempt to e-file; if your e-file was rejected you had until October 20 to make corrections and re-file. Now it is too late to use online software or to e-file.

If you have any changes/corrections at all to make to your 2018 return, you now have to complete it using desktop software, which you must download to a full PC or Mac  (not to a mobile device).

If you already paid for your online software you can ask customer support for a download of the desktop software.

If you are getting a refund, there is no penalty for filing late.  If you owe tax due, then file and pay the amount due as shown on the Form 1040, but expect a bill later from the IRS for the penalty and interest you will owe.  Only the IRS will calculate this—TurboTax will not calculate it.
