Federal return is larger than TurboTax fees but I'm being told that I don't have enough money to pay through my return?

Yes, I know there's an extra $39 cost. My federal refund is over $800 and my TurboTax fees (including the extra $39 is just a little over $200. Why can't I pay through my federal return? This is very frustrating and the only thing keeping me from filing today. It even added the $39 fee to my total but the option to pay through my refund is greyed out. Now I can't remove the $39 fee but I only have the option to pay through Apple Pay. What is happening right now?

I've been using TurboTax for 20 years and this is the last year because it sucks worse than ever.  Intuit is greedier than ever, there are bona-fide verifiable bugs in tax computation (such as for 1040 line 12b, and others), and I have had enough.

Please see the below TurboTax Help Article for a list of situations that would keep you from qualifying to use Pay with Refund.

Why can't I deduct my TurboTax fees from my refund?

To remove your Pay with Refund fees and switch to another payment option, please see this help article: How do I remove Pay With My Refund fees in TurboTax Online and change my payment method?
