Somehow Fed tax refund received from 2015 is reducing my Fed Taxes paid in 2016. I cannot find how to remove the 2015 refund or re-class it.

Since you are using the CD/download product, switch to Forms and open the Tax Payments Worksheet. Look on the worksheet to see where the amount is shown. You should be able to delete it right on the worksheet or by clicking on the spy glass beside the line and deleting it on the source document.

Did you get your refund last year?  If it is applying your last year's refund to this year and you need to remove it

Go to
Federal Taxes (or Personal for H&B version)
Deductions and Credits
Choose Jump to Full List -or  I'll choose what I work on
Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
Other Income Taxes - Click the Start or Update button

Next page scroll down to 2015 Refund Applied to 2016
Click Start or Update and then delete the amount
