Error in turbox tax for etrade login

Anyone else having an issue in Turbotax where it's saying the etrade login

is invalid?  I go to the etrade website and enter my userid/password and it

works fine, but enter the same info in Turbotax and get an error.  Any ideas?

Please ensure that you are selecting the correct E Trade Name within Turbo Tax . Some are similar for example - E trade Bank, E Trade Securities etc. You may review the full partner list here.

Thanks I see multiple E*Trades in your list, but when I'm in the Turbo Tax software

I only see E*Trade Securities and I think my investments are just in regular E*Trade.

I don't see any other options listed within the software.  Where can I find the other

choices?

You're welcome.  Please try the E Trade securities option if you have not already done so.

E*Trade securities is the only option that I see in TurboTax and that is where I was

entering my userid/password that isn't working.  It is definitely the correct information

that I use on the website.  I have a ton of activity and it would save a ton of time to do

it online so I would like to get it working.

I used the etrade login to download investment income and did not experience any problems.

I have tried it like 10 times and always get invalid login but when I go on the E*trade with same userid/password it works fine so only guess it that it’s a different E*trade site but really don’t know

I'm not sure the web version of Turbo Tax.  I have the software installed on my

laptop and it does the most recent updates every time I open it.  So browser

cache isn't the problem.  Is there a bug with the software?

Please follow the instructions here to manually update the software, to ensure it is up to date. @bgrindle7

My turbo tax software says I'm running the latest version.  Should this

separate update be run with Turbo Tax deluxe version022.000.0429

Yes, several people including me are having this same issue.  It's even been reported on Reddit.

Were you able to get it resolved?

Using TurboTax Deluxe, not online.  Getting the message:

E*TRADE Securities:  Signon invalid.

No and I have a ton of transactions that I don’t want to enter manually. Still trying to get it resolved so let me know if you find out anything

@bgrindle7

Have you tried to manually copy and paste the web address for the e-trade login page into TurboTax?

No but that sounds like something I would like to try.  I have only clicked on

the etrade from the list of investments companies.  Where would I copy in the

link?

Most E*Trade accounts are now listed under Morgan Stanley for tax reporting - I entered Morgan Stanley into the TurboTax auto find feature and it loaded my ETrade account information after entering my ETrade login information.

When you select the bank or financial institution, instead of searching by E*Trade, you would paste the URL for E*Trade into the search bar, to pull in the best access for your account. @bgrindle7

It won't let me enter etrade.com or www.etrade.com in that search bar.  It just

treats as searching for financial institution that isn't there.   I also tried all the

morgan stanley options and they didn't work either.  So frustrating.  I would

think E*trade securities would go directly to www.etrade.com, but no way to

verify.

Hi @bgrindle7

It happened the same to me, and I just recalled that I had the security ID enabled, this is also known as 2FA (2 Factor Authentication. The solution for me was just as easy as disabling the 2FA. After that, I tried to import the transactions from eTRADE and that was successfully done.

Also, I found a quick guide that explains how to disable the eTrade 2FA, I used the web application to do it. Please, see the link below.

Hope this can help you out.

I had the same problem and churned on it for a few hours.   The problem turned out to be I was using the E-trade app on my phone to try and find the Security Setting to allow third-party data sharing.   There is no such setting on the mobile app.   I finally logged in to Etrade online and boom there it was under my account profile / security setting /

I selected "Allow" and tried it again from TurboTax and it worked.

You have to enabled Third Party data sharing in security settings with etrade, then it works.
