The answer on turbotax max was that the secondary filer is covered with joint filing, but the IDnotify account details don't allow for a second SSN. Isn't that needed for second person protection?
The primary and secondary filer are covered with MAX protection when filing jointly, but not dependents. Please see this TurboTax FAQ:
This is a lie, they will not fully cover both you and your spouse even if filing jointly. This is false advertising.
I am going to have to agree, this is misleading. I purchased MAX for the id monitoring believing it would cover both my wife and I. Upon signing in it only allows for one SSN though.
So, any resolution this, I believe the advertising upon purchase of MAX said it would cover primary and spouse, but I don't see any way to create an IDNOTIFY account for spouse and the IDNOTIFY account only allows for one social security num? @Intuit, please give us details on how to handle this. There are numerous forum threads about this with no resolution.
Secondary tax filers are also covered under IDnotify as part of MAX Benefits. To enroll the secondary tax filer with IDnotify, follow these steps:
Yes, saw that in the other posts. Does not work. Spoke to their support agent. They were not able to figure it out. They escalated to 2nd level specialist, who also couldn't help.
Then contact ID Notify directly. They should have sent an email to log in. https://portal.idnotify.com/login
TurboTax will tell you over and over that both spouses are included and covered under the Max Protection product when you file as Married Filing Jointly...but IDNotify will tell you to pound sand. "Only the primary filer is covered". When you file as Married Filing Jointly, both parties are legally liable for the information on that tax return. When you buy one product for that tax return, it should cover both parties. Even in reading the
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR FULL IDENTITY RESTORATION (PREVIOUSLY TAX IDENTITY RESTORATION) AND IDENTITY THEFT MONITORING SERVICES, coverage is not explicitly limited to only the first name listed on the tax return. So - don't waste your time chasing your tail on this coverage. Only one of you will get it and it is whoever's name is listed first on the tax return.
100% false and misleading product sale.
I was calling back and forth between Turbotax and IDnotify. it didn't help. it is a waste of time, money, and energy. I have opened 3 tickets with Turbotax and the agents don't have any clue about this issue.
You are commenting on an old post. Is there an issue we can assist you with? @Nat007
yeah, it is an old post; but still, it is an issue with adding a spouse to the Max Benefits with IDNotify. I am facing this issue even today.
@Nat007 For information on who is covered under MAX benefits, please visit the Help Article below. To contact IDNotify's Customer Care, please call 1-855-962-6943.
I was calling TurboTax and IDnotify 4 times yesterday. They are passing the ball back and forth.
The numbers I called:
TurboTax Chat/Call Support & ID Notify: [phone number removed] & [phone number removed]
Cases with TurboTax: [phone number removed] / [phone number removed] / [phone number removed]
All I need is a PIN generated from TurboTax to complete the IDNotify registration for my spouse.
We are unable to provide assistance with this here in the public forum. You would need to follow the instructions here to speak with a phone support agent who is able to pull up your account. @Nat007
The TurboTax agents which I called yesterday, don't have any clue about the Secondary Taxpayer IDNotify service. Wondering why Turbotax is not sending the IDNotify registration steps to the registered email id instead wasting Agents time and customers time :(
