So you will still have to file 2017 separately. You can’t add it to your 2018 return. And after October 2018 Online will close and you will have to buy the Desktop program for a full Windows or Mac computer. So you might as well do it now.
if i buy the desktop program will it work on a google crome book
No. You need a full Windows or Mac Desktop or laptop to install the Desktop program. Otherwise you need to use the online web version here https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/

If you are getting a refund there will not be penalty for filing your 2017 return late. If you owe tax, you will incur penalties and interest on the tax owed if you are late. And when you file your 2017 tax return, it will still be subject to the 2017 tax laws, not the new tax laws.
Can I buy a 2017 turbotax CD to file in February or March 2019? I am going to try to do both returns (2017 & 2018) before April 15, 2019.
Yes buy prior years here,

I disagree !! as far as filing your taxes late! there should not be a penalty, because the IRS lets you file your taxes, anywhere from up to 2, to 3 years later, or in Turbotax software as well, as long, as it is the original date you file your taxes in, then 2 to 3 years later, will be fine, and if you do not owe any taxes that are due. But do your own research, to be sure!.
You do have three years to file if you are getting a refund. But if you OWE, you have penalties and interest that begin to accrue as of the filing deadline for the tax year if you file after the deadline.

Ok I want to file now
What tax year do you want to File? Tax year 2019 cannot be filed until after January 1, 2020 and the IRS will not be accepting any type of 2019 tax return until January 15, 2020.
The TurboTax online editions are only for tax year 2019.
If you need to compelte and file a prior tax year, 2018 thru 2016, then you would have to purchase, download and install on a personal computer, Win or Mac, one of the prior year desktop editions for the tax year needed from this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
A prior year tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed.
Can I buy 2018 deluxe or which one? Can I buy in store? My situation is need to file business sole proprietor 2017? Paid estimated taxes in 2018 (needed to close out business). Therefore could not file for 2018 because didn't file 2017 yet.
So the 2018 worked as employee.

Each tax year is a separate TurboTax program. Yes, you can use any of the TurboTax desktop editions to enter your income and expenses as a sole proprietor on a Schedule C along with entering your W-2 as an employee.
So I can use basic for sole proprietor too? But have to pay for 2 times to file both years?

Yes. You will have to purchase each tax year, 2017 and 2018. The Deluxe or higher edition is available for prior year tax software.

With the TurboTax desktop download editions you can create, complete and file as many tax returns as you need without further charge. To start a new tax return, click on the File menu at the top left of the desktop program screen. Click on New Tax Return. Always save your tax return when closing the program or starting a new return.
