I think I figured it out, at least how to get it to work properly in the interview...at least it did for me.
(Discovered by accident, BUT the software fix to prevent the problem in the first place, is still needed though).

If you used that Property Tax entry field last year, and if you used a Supporting Details (SD ) sheet for putting it in last year, then the SD sheet transferred (empty) into this year's forms...AND...the SD sheet is somehow blocking the "interview" for the Property Taxes entry, to transition to the proper entry page.
_______________
My fix:
1) Switch to Forms Mode.
2) Open the Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet
3) There should be a zero on line 2a of that worksheet....double-click on it.
4) Delete the worksheet by hitting the big red
X
5) Either enter you Property taxes on that line....or...return to the interview and enter your property taxes using the interview ..as you normally would..should be OK now.

I found that if I re-introduced a new SD sheet for that line...the interview still proceeded as it normally should. So deleting the transferred-in SD sheet from 2023 was the main fix. and starting a new SD sheet doesn't re-introduce the problem.
Taxes on real property can be entered either in the section on Mortgage Interest or separately in Property Taxes under Deductions and Credits, both in TurboTax Desktop/Download and TurboTax Online. Taxes on certain other property, such as vehicles, can also be entered in the Property Taxes section under Deductions and Credits.
I have not encountered any issues with entering property taxes in the 2024 program, as yet. Please provide more specifics as to what steps you had taken before you saw the message "We need a bit more info..." if you still need assistance.
Please see this tax tips article for more information about deducting property taxes.
I'm trying to enter it under the Property Taxes under Deductions and Credits section using the Mac version on turbotax premier. When you click update button it displays
When you click on enter info, it sends you back to the Deductions & Credit screen. You are caught in a loop with no ability to input your property tax deduction.
Thank you for clarifying that this occurred in the Mac version of Premier. I've been informed that this issue has been elevated to programmers for diagnosis and resolution.
We will provide an update when available. Please advise if the issue resolves itself in the meantime.
The same happened in the window verson of the TurboTax as well.......
Thanks, I will wait for the response..
I am experiencing the same issue in Windows version of Turbotax Premier. I know that last year I had a supporting document under property taxes and this year I imported that file... I am wondering if that is what is causing the problem here. I am aware that supporting documents caused a problem elsewhere in the software when recording medical mileage.
Once the property tax is entered in the mortgage section, the property tax button is not allowing additional information. You can either:
I have the same problem with Deluxe on Windows 10. This is the first year where I don't have a mortgage or a 1098, Not sure if that is part of the problem.
Nope. I don't have mortgage loans. I answer NO. I then go to put in my property taxes and it wont let me. I then tried an experiment and pretended that I had mortgage loan of $1. It then let me put in the property tax, but as soon as I went back and deleted the mortgage loan the property tax zeroed out and it wont let me add it manually
I don't have a mortgage, so I did not enter any values in that section.
I have the same problem with Mac version with TurboTax Premier.

This is a known problem. See this TurboTax support FAQ to be notified when the problem has been fixed - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/mortgage-loan/enter-property-taxes-paid/L3EUvEGix_US_en_US?uid=m68c8s3t
I can't enter it using Turbotax Deluxe on my Mac either. Just goes in a loop and Getting help impossible. Turbotax user since the 80's and it just gets more difficult to use each year.
I don't have a mortgage and it still will not let me make an entry.

Thank you for figuring out that work-around! It worked for me.
If anyone from Turbotax is reading this, please ask your QA team to spend more time testing imports that have Supporting Details attached to columns . This is the second bug that I encountered this year related to imports of supporting details (the other was Medical expenses - miles driven).
I had the same problem as described. I followed the advicew and weas able to enter my property taxes, although the interview still says "We need more information". As to how I got there, I chose to enter deductions myself. I had no problem with entering charitable contributions, but ran into the "We need more information" prob;em when I tried to enter property taxes. Something is definitely wrong, as I've never had a problem like this in the past, and I've used TurboTax (or Macintax) at least since 1999.
This might shed some light: I paid my mortgage off years ago, so am not entering anything in that section, just going directly to property taxes, as I've done in the past. Could it be that if no taxes are entered in this section it prevents adding them later?
Here is an FAQ:
On Windows 10, steps above solved both my local real estate property tax and auto property tax calculation problems which are exactly as described above. Using the Worksheets by going to Forms/Interest and Interest Deductions Worksheet, I entered my real estate and auto property taxes and they are added correctly to my tax forms and now reflected in the interview section. Thank you!!
I am running TurboTax Premier 2024 on Windows. We do not have a mortgage, so pay our property taxes separately. TTax would not let me enter them on the property tax screen, and would not let me add any supporting details. I switched into forms mode, went to the Tax & Int Wkst, double clicked on line 2a and it brought up the supporting details window where I could enter my information. Did the same for an additional property on line 2c. Went back into step-by-step mode and the correct entries had been filled in.
So, similar workaround to the one already described. But, I should be able to enter them directly on the property tax screen, and should be able to add supporting details from there.
