I originally had an error on my W2 where I was taxed in the wrong state. I started my return and did a non resident return to get back to the money so I could pay taxes to the correct state. However, my employer just reissued me a w2-c form so now I no longer need the non resident return but I can't seem to delete it because it says I already registered. How do I get around this now since I no longer need the non resident form?
To delete a state tax return, follow these directions:
@JamesG1 I don't have the option for delete. All I have are Edit or Start Over. I tried calling but they keep telling me to pay the $30 upgrade fee to just talk to a human being which is really annoying.
If you don't see the option to delete your state (you'll probably see Edit instead), you've already paid your TurboTax fees (including the state fee) or registered your free version while the state was on your return. If you've done either of these things, you can't delete your state return.
Since deleting your state return is not an option, you are left with the following options:

I've been using turbotax for the last 6 years so I don't really want to create a new account. Also I'm not eligible to use that free file either. I'm considering just letting my NY nonresident form just go through, it's 0 income and 0 taxes since they fixed it on my w2-c anyways so it's not like I owe them anything and I'm guessing they'll just disregard it anyways (or contact my employer who will tell them the situation). Or does anyone know why it would be a bad idea to send in a state form that shows 0 income from that state and 0 taxes paid?
