Texas does not have a state income tax, but you will need to file a nonresident return for Kansas.  Any tax paid to Kansas should be credited to you on your Oklahoma resident tax return.

Oklahoma tax is prorated using a percentage of AGI from Oklahoma sources divided by the AGI from all sources.

Why would I have to file a nonresident state return?  This link has another link included with instructions on how to file the nonresident Kansas return.

To file your states returns after you have already filed your federal return, follow these instructions:

  • In TurboTax Online, sign into your account.
  • Select Tax Home in the left menu.
  • Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents.
  • Select 2018, and then select Add a State.
  • Add Kansas and prepare it if you have not already.
  • Add OK or amend it if you already filed to report any credit due from KS.
