Hi - RE ARIZONA state taxes: my full deduction for charity was not calculated by turbotax, and they did not ask me about medical deductions... does anyone know why?

Your input for medical expenses and charitable contributions will need to be made in the federal interview section of the program.  The entries here will pull into your Arizona return.

You can enter your medical expenses in the Federal section of the program.

  1. Select Deductions & Credits
  2. Select Medical
  3. Select Medical expenses
  4. Proceed through the screens to enter your medical expenses as prompted

Your donations can also be entered in the Federal interview section of the program.

  1. Select Deductions & Credits
  2. Scroll down to All Tax Breaks and select Charitable Donations
  3. Select Start to the right of Donations to Charity in 2020
  4. Proceed to enter the details of your charitable cash contribution by entity as applicable in this section.
  5. Once you have completed entering your details, select Done with Charitable Donations

All of your entries here will pull into your state return.  Please comment if you are still not seeing the full amounts pulled into your Arizona return.

In the AZ state interview you will be asked if you wish to itemize.  You can answer yes.  The medical expenses you entered in the federal interview should carry over if you are itemizing AZ. Your AZ itemized deductions includes 100% of the medical and dental expenses entered in the federal interview there is no 7.5% floor.
