Turbo Tax, please help me in making correction to get CA State Income Return Accepted.
My CA State Tax return was rejected due to an error in TurboTax software. When I opened my return I did not see any details about what's causing the problem displayed. Please help.
My California state 2020 tax return says the same thing. Has Turbo Tax fixed the issue yet?
Having the same problem. Previously there was a message saying there was a software update that would fix it on 2/18/21 and I submitted again. Just got rejected for a second time and now the message says to wait until 2/26/21! Aggravating that I paid for this product and it's not even working correctly and I don't know how to fix it otherwise.
I received the same message, California Tax return rejected. When I open the Turbo tax program it wants me to resubmit my Federal Tax which was already submitted, no option to submit the State tax although it says it is correct it did not tell me the problem other than the email text.
I'm in the same boat. CA Return has been rejected at least 3 times already. Reject Code F540NR-950. Turbotax has a message saying "There is an internal processing error with your return. This issue is resolved in a product release scheduled for February 18, 2021. Please update your software on or after 02/18/2021." Strangely, it is already 2/21/2021 and the system still refers to the past date like it is a future date. Don't know what is going on, but Turbotax software quality is clearly not what it was in the past. Probably outsourced software dev overseas to save money or they are not hiring the right people anymore. Very frustrating for the end customers.
My CA state return got rejected too. When I tried to fix it Turbo Tax said they’ll do a software update on the 26th and then it’ll be able to fix. So everyone just has to wait a few days! Definitely seems to be an issue on their end so should be easily fixed after the software update
I have used Turbo Tax for years without a problem. I am in this situation too. My California return was rejected. It says that one section of numbers don't add up correctly. With TurboTax, we don't do the math. My numbers are all in incorrectly. This group is giving me hope that TurboTax will be correcting their software. Thanks!
I keep getting the same software error too. Not only that, originally when it first got accepted it said I would get my CA refund of $112 and now it's saying instead I owe $50 in CA taxes even tho I've changed nothing on the original info that said I would be getting a refund??
Same thing happened to me. Mine has been rejected twice already! It is very frustrating.
My return for CA was rejected twice. Your software says that the error was corrected in the software but my second rejection was after this was supposedly fixed. Please correct issue.
I decided not to file my California return because it was obviously wrong. The return had me paying over $3,200.00 in addition to what was already taken out of my check. I always get a refund. I did the return manually and it shows a $500.00 refund. Something very messed up in the Turbo Tax software for California. This is crazy, I am done with Turbo Tax.
This is frustrating! The message stated that if we used TT online the error has already been corrected. I have no error code, just a note that/ CA-Return/CA-ReturnData/CAForm3849/PASReconciliation/TotalPAS - Your California return could not be processed electronically due to missing information on Form 3849 Premium Assistance Subsidy. -This doesn't even apply to me!
On top of this, I go to the "help me fix this" and it states it's already been corrected. I tried to call however, they won't speak to me because my husband is considered the taxpayer. Grrr.
There is a list of deductions that you may be able to claim on your state return. If they don't apply to you, go ahead and resubmit your return and it should go through.

After Googling the 3849 again, I went back into my return until I found the healthcare section. There is a yes/no button that for some reason, changed to yes, as in marking that I had a Covered CA health plan. I do not, I have a private insurance plan.
My main complaint is that a TT representative would not speak to me about this. I file married with my husband and because he is the "man" he is listed as the taxpayer. When a married couple file jointly, you should be able to speak to either person on the return.
Is anyone getting help from Turbotax? I got the notice that said a software glitch messed up my California State return but when I try to open it wants me to redo my Federal.

I reached out Turbo tax support and they told me to wait to submit my file. It cost me a dollar but they were trying get more. I can't blame the tech because he is just support. This is ridiculous. There should be a message saying, "we're working on it we expect to have this fixed by such and such date.

My California Tax return was rejected by California according to email I received from Turbo Tax due to error in Turbo Tax Software.. Apparently I'm not the only one.. Turbo Tax will not provide me with a way to correct the return either online or after spending nearly 2 hours on the phone with a Turbo Tax representative. Should I just mail the Franchise Tax Board a printed return signed along with a copy of my Federal Return.. Will not likely use Turbo Tax again due to really poor communications
I got this message a number of times. I updated my browser (as it promoted me to) and tried it on other browsers - it still had this issue. I called them and was told that after submitting to e-file 3 times you are required by the state to MAIL your California tax return. Turbo Tax would not refund my $40 for e-filing because "it was filed" (meaning sent, even though it was rejected - on what seems to be a problem with the Turbo Tax system), but that I was welcome to fill out a form to try to request a refund.
The person on the phone said it was an issue with their software and that I would have to mail in my CA state returns.
Here's is what the TT system says I need to do:
"There is an internal processing error with your return. Please update to the latest software (for web products this will happen automatically) and run a final review of your state return. If prompted, clear any errors by making the appropriate change and re-submit this return electronically. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."
This happened on 2/27/21.
Following up... mine had been rejected twice. Last night I "re-visited" the California portion on my filing and made TT do a final check and e-filed for a third time. Woke up this morning with a text that it had been accepted. I assume whatever software issue they were having has been resolved because I didn't actually change anything within my return that I had been previously been rejected twice for. So, for those of you following this thread... go ahead and try to re-file again. Make sure you click through the California portion again so that the TT software can do it's "final check" and correct whatever issue was previously resulting in rejections.
