Have you already filed your tax return and has it been accepted?
@veteranspest
Answer is given below...but you must use the desktop software to do it now since the Online software is shut down for 2017 taxes

Use the search function in the upper right. Type 1099-R in the search box and click on jump to 1099-R.
I just received one additional form 1099-R and need to amend the already IRS accepted Federal Tax Return to include the distribution that I forgot about.
How do I do that? What form from Turbo Tax and instx?

If you filed, it is like dropping it into a mailbox - you cannot get it back.
You'll have wait until your return is either accepted or rejected.
See this TurboTax FAQ for help with amending.
You can check the status of your amended return here, but allow 3 weeks after filing for it to show up.
I recently received amended 1099 forms from Well Fargo finial account after I filed my turbo taxes. What can be done to add these to my return
If your return has not been accepted, just correct the 1099-R.
If your return has been filed and accepted, you must wait until the financial part is also done. Once completely finished with your 2019 return, you can amend. Here is how to file an amended return. Then you can track an amended return after 3 weeks. Be sure to mail your forms with tracking to ensure safe delivery.
I imported 1099 R from a provider. Now I need to add a 1099 R from another provider, but Turbo is requiring me to go through all the imported 1099 Rs that were imported, a very onerous task, and one that will create errors. How do I avoid this?
When you need to add another Form 1099-R after you can simply choose to 'Add another 1099-R' on the 'Here's your 1099-R info' screen.
If you have any COVID disaster distributions from 2020, TurboTax will ask you about that as well. If you did not take a distribution for that reason simply answer 'No'.
If you’ve just filed your 2022 return, and need to add a 1099-R, the advice given to the earlier posters is all still relevant. You’ll want to first verify that your return has been processed (by getting the refund, if there is one), then file an “amended return.”
Here’s how to do the amendment in TurboTax — it’s pretty straightforward, but you do have to pay attention(!). The most important thing is to make sure the program knows you’re amending (the refund/balance-due will show as $0) before you enter the additional 1099-R (the 1040X form the program will be generating has columns for the previous and new versions which will be inaccurate otherwise).
Also, the 1040X should be ready in our program starting February 23rd (that’s the projected date here), so you won’t be able to prepare your federal amendment until then. If you live in a state with income tax, you’ll want to re-do that also, and if they’re providing an availability date for their amendment form, it should be here. Good luck, @naplespt!
