Turbo tax says that the state received my return, when i go to check the status the state says the information I entered does not match theirs. Has this happened to anyone else? If so what was done?

Just to clarify, is it stating that the refund amount does not match?

Please refer to your state tax return to ensure that you are entering the amount as shown on the return.

I did. I am definitely entering the correct information.

Each state updates their e-file status and refund information at different times. It could be they haven't updated their information since your return has been received. See the Turbo Tax FAQ below for more information regarding How to track my state refund. You will need to click on your state and follow that path to reach out to your local state agency if you continue to get the referenced error message.

I am having the same problem.  I e-filed and NY State accepted my return on 2/1/20.  I checked my online account and it is listed.  Every time I check it it still says the information/amount doesn't match.  I called and the amount I am entering is the amount of refund on my return.  They can't tell me why it's happening.  Has anyone else had this problem and then it corrected itself?

Yes, Mine says the same and i filed on 2/1 and was accepted same day . I enter the exact information that was efiled so i don't know why it is saying this. I was going to call as well but since i seen your post it is probably not worth trying to get through to them.  I have been checking everyday since and it still says the same thing.  I even called the automated line to see maybe it updated on there but nope says the same thing. I will post if i get a different response!

I tried the automated phone line too and got the same message.  The amount I entered doesn't match my return.  I guess this is the new way NY State is doing things this year instead of their stupid 30, 60 or 90 day messages.  Once they process we'll be able to view it.  I'll check on Saturday when they will have my return for a week.  Maybe it will show in their system.

I’m currently experiencing the same problem and my state return has been accepted since 01/29 . I enter the exact amount stated on my return and it’s saying the information I entered doesn’t match their records. So I went ahead and tried my husbands info to see if it would be the same and it wasn’t his actually said the have received his refund and is currently reviewing it.

Mine is saying the exact same thing. It was accepted on 1/31 so I’m unsure as to why we are all getting this message. My husbands was accepted on 1/30 and he got a direct deposit date already

Just tried checking again.  It finally says they received it and it's being processed.  No further info available.

Calling the automated line is useless, and so are the representatives that can basically only read off the screen the same error. The return appears to be lost at this point.

Same here with New York return. Filed and accepted on Feb 4 2022.

Still get the same status update message:  The information you have entered does not match our records.

Entered information is correct.

Per NYS, if the information you enter when you check your refund status does not match what's in our system, you may receive one of the messages below. To troubleshoot, follow the numbered steps provided.

  • The information you have supplied does not match our records. Please verify your Social Security number and the whole dollar amount of the refund requested as shown on your New York State tax form.

  • The information entered doesn’t match the amount on your New York State return. Are you entering the whole dollar amount only? For example, $223.45 would be entered as 2 2 3. Also, please make sure you are entering your New York State refund amount and not your Federal refund amount.

  • The information entered doesn’t match the amount on your New York State return. Before entering your information for the fourth time, please verify that you are entering the same information that was reported on your New York State return. If the information doesn’t match this time, you’ll be unable to use this service for 24 hours.

  • The information you have entered does not match our records. Please verify that you are entering the same information that was reported on your New York State tax return. Please allow a minimum of 24 hours before you access this service again.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Refer to the chart above to locate and review the refund requested line of the return you filed.
    1. If that line is blank, or you entered zero, you have not requested a refund and cannot use the Check your refund tool.
    2. If your tax preparer provided different information and you do not have a copy of the return they prepared, contact your preparer. They are required by law to give you a copy of the return they filed. See Consumer Bill of Rights Regarding Tax Preparers for more information.
  2. When you have confirmed the refund amount listed on the Refund amount requested line on your return, enter that amount in the Check your refund tool.

Note: Our representatives are not permitted to provide your refund amount, even after verifying your identity. You must refer to the return you filed or request a copy of your filed return by filing Form DTF-505Authorization for Release of Photocopies of Tax Returns and/or Tax Information. Allow 30 days to process your request for a copy.

Just tried it again.. enter the whole dollar amount  from line 78 on form IT-201 and it generated the same message:

"The information you have entered does not match our records. "

I'm almost certain this is an issue with NYS refund status tool.

I would suggest contacting the New York State Tax Department directly to have them check into this. You can contact them directly by clicking here. @MasterUMC

Same issue here (2021 filing).
This is an issue with the NY Tax Refund site not people putting in the wrong information.

Seems like they have a backlog for getting them into the system after accepting the return.
Last year took around 10 days after acceptance as a guide for it to show up on the site.

Until then you will also get this error - I tend to re try once every 24 hours to check on progress..
