TURBO TAX IS UNABLE TO LOCATE MY 1040

I filed my 2022 taxes but I am unable to download my 1040.  I contacted IRS and they stated I did not file my 2022 taxes.  I have an order number to show I paid to file my taxes on the TURBO TAX online website, as I have for the past few years.  Since TURBO TAX is unable to provide me with my 1040 forms for 2022, am I subject to a refund since it was not filed through your online website?  I believe this would be fair to request a refund if TURBO TAX cannot provide me with my paperwork, although I filed and gave the Customer Service Rep Bernard my order number.  He located my information and payment but said there were no documents.

Paying your TurboTax fees did not file your tax return.  Did YOU go all the way through the FILE section and click that big orange button that said "Transmit my returns now?"   If you did not do that, or if your e-file was rejected and you did not notice, then your return was not filed.

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?” Or “Rejected?” Or “Printed?”

Note:  If it says “Rejected,” “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” that means YOU have to mail it yourself.  TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.

If you realize now that your return was not e-filed successfully, then you will need to file it by mail.  E-filing is permanently closed for past year returns.  You will need to print the return, sign and date it in ink, and mail it in.

Go to Tax Home

Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year 2023 and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

You have to access your own account and/or  print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.

Start a 2024 return online and enter some personal information  so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax?  If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

You can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30, an actual copy of your tax return.

I received message that my returns for 2022 were ACCEPTED on April 18, 2023.    Do you have copies of my 1040 forms so that I can print it and mail it?

@Lihdz77 Did you read the reply above that tells you how to find your return?

Yes, I read it.  My question is will I get refunded since TURBO TAX did not process my paper work and forms are not available.  I was charged and clearly, I "did not file"

You can have that discussion with customer support.

No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue.  If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help.  Do not use the word “refund.”

@Lihdz77   You have an email saying it was Accepted?    Then, In the PDF of your TurboTax return, the last page of the federal return should be an "electronic postmark" that shows your name, Social Security number, the date and time that you e-filed the return, and the date that the IRS accepted it.
