If your tax refund is taking longer than the typical 21 days to receive, see this  FAQ regarding  What to do if it's been over 21 days

Thank you for posting the what to do after 21 days link from last year and some of that applies. Do you not have an updated response for this year?

@Naptown624 , the link provided by KatinaLO is a valid link for this tax year.  It was updated 2 days ago, last updated ‎February 17, 2020 12:03 PM.    Do you have another question that was not addressed by that FAQ?

Normally, tax filers( 9 out of 10) usually receive their refund within 21 days after acceptance, but due to the passage of the PATH act, some tax filers will experience a delay. According to the IRS, the first EITC/ACTC recipients can expect funds by the first week of March if they chose direct deposit and there are no issues with their tax return. For more info, please visit this IRS page. Also, please see this related TurboTax FAQ, Some 2019 federal refunds are delayed due to the PATH Act

@LakeshaLO  I'm fairly certain I did not qualify for the EIC/ATC - why would my status say this.

Mind you, I have had nearly the same return dollars for the last 3 years with little/no variance.

@Naptown624, processing means that the IRS is checking your tax return for possible errors in preparation for a deposit if one is due. All tax returns are checked for errors and other issues. Here are the difference phases:

When you e-file your tax return, your status will either be pendingrejected, or accepted. You can check your e-file status here.

  • Pending simply means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected the tax return.
  • Rejected means the IRS received your tax return, but return it  because there are some errors that need fixing before the IRS can accept and process it.
  • Accepted means your return was received and the initial inspection (for example, the date of birth matched, social security numbers matched, dependents haven't been claim, etc)  was passed. After the intitial inspection, then, the IRS will do a deeper inspection. If there are no errors and no issues with your refund, then IRS will approve your refund and give you an estimated refund deposit date on the IRS Where's My Refund tool.

Like I mention earlier, when IRS accepts a tax filer tax return, it is in the hands of the IRS and so, they control the timing of when funds are deposited if one is due.  So, please keep checking the IRS Where's My Refund tool as updates are made frequently.

@LakeshaLO

The issue is I have continued to check the status, and then on Monday the status bar went away on the 'wheres my refund page'

Why would the status bar disappear? It was three progress sections on the bar as you describe, and it was pending. This is the first year in I think 5 filings with Turbo that it has done this. It is ridiculous you cannot view what your status is. This is just another example of a canned response of which i have heard either from checking the status myself, checking the turbo home page, or reading these forums.

You have not provided any new info on this topic, and it feels like others in my shoes are experiencing it as well.

Turbo people should have better answers, or at least be in pursuit to why this is happening.

Cycle Codes

Example 20200405 = (2020 is year) (04 is cycle week) (05 is cycle day)

Cycle Code Ending in 01 - Friday and is daily

Cycle Code Ending in 02 - Monday and is daily

Cycle Code Ending in 03 - Tuesday and is daily

Cycle Code Ending in 04 - Wednesday and is daily

Cycle Code Ending in 05 - Thursday and is weekly

The IRS states:

WHERE’S MY REFUND STATUS BARS DISAPPEARED

"We have gotten many comments and messages regarding the IRS Where’s My Refund Tool having your orange status bar disappearing. This has to do with the irs.gov where’s my refund site having too much traffic and lagging. This is causing images not to display and information about your federal tax return to not show up. This has happened every year since the tool was first available. This has nothing to do with you being flagged or your return being denied. Status Bars Disappeared for many Americans who filed early.

This also can have to do with your browser settings as well as your cache. Please try using a different browser such as Chrome or Firefox. Also, clear your cache in your browser settings."

When checking on the status of your refund at the IRS Where's My Refund (WMR) site, you may get the message: We cannot provide any information about your refund.

You might receive this message because:

  • Your e-filed return was accepted (received) by the IRS less than 24 hours ago. Wait at least 24 hours after acceptance before using WMR.
  • Your return is still pending.
  • You never e-filed. You can quickly find out if you did by checking your status.
  • If you don't see a status, go through the TurboTax File section again. Be sure to go all the way to the end and select Transmit my returns now.
  • You mailed your return less than 4 weeks ago. Paper-filers should wait four weeks before using WMR.

Until the IRS starts processing your tax return there may not be a record of it on the IRS website. Please also see the below TurboTax FAQ for more information:
