Did you have any TurboTax Fees that you chose to pay out of your Federal refund? If so, your funds go first from the IRS to an intermediary bank where the fees are subtracted. If you used that service, we can give you more details, and how to log in to the intermediary company (SBTPG) to check on the funds.

Hi, I started using turbo tax for my tax refund, it insisted that I paid even before finally e-signing, I paid then it kept insisting that I should remove my military service affiliation or file by mail, I am currently deployed and can’t do that. I decided not to use your service anymore, how can I get a refund?

The federal return includes free e-filing, so the fee you paid was for the preparation of your tax return. TurboTax does not offer a refund once you agree to accept your return as prepared, as to do otherwise would invite others to prepare their return for free, since you could mail the return in once you are able to print it out.

You could call product support if you want to request a refund though.

I'm not sure what you meant by it insisting to "remove my military service affiliation".  Are you referring to a military address problem such as APO/FPO?   Without more info, we don't know what topic in TurboTax was causing your error.

Moreover, are you an enlisted member?  All enlisted active duty military and reserve personnel are eligible to use Online TurboTax editions for free through the Military Discount. Commissioned officers, warrant officers, veterans, and retirees do not qualify.

So if you are enlisted, there shouldn't have been any charge.  Or did you happen to add the optional MAX Benefits package (for which there is a charge)?  If so, then MAX might be the source of your error.

If you wish, you can try using the Online Refund Request.  Be sure to explain your issue in detail when using that form since they are less-prone to giving a refund for Online TurboTax.    Make it clear you are military, and if enlisted, that you should have had free product anyway (unless you added MAX).
