I have the same issue. Where did you file? For me it was Fresno. Could you update this thread when your return is processed? That way we will at least know.

To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954. (This line has no information on Economic Impact Payments.)

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

To track your state refund:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901548-why-do-some-refunds-take-longer-than-others

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

I am having the same problem, it has been over 6 weeks since I electronically filed and it is still processing the return.  I don't understand what is happening.  Does anyone have any advice?  I live in KCMO.

Due to the backlog caused by the Covid situation the IRS is way behind in processing returns.  All  you can do is wait patiently and check the IRS site once a week until you see progress. https://www.irs.gov/refunds

I just got a letter in the mail that makes it appear they are unsure if I even filed and said it may take 60 days as they look into it

You got the standard "60 day we need more time to process "letter ... all you can do is wait for the IRS to complete their processing of the return  and release the refund  or  get another notice for more information.

I hope you can help me get my federal return that I mailed June. I received my state but not my federal. Why is going on? Thank you

If you mailed it you may have to wait awhile.  In March the IRS closed their processing centers because of the Covid-19 pandemic and stopped processing mailed tax returns. They are just now starting to process them again, but they have limited staff and a huge backlog, so it will be quite a while before your tax return is processed or any status information is available. An IRS spokesperson recently said that they have about 11 million pieces of unopened mail.

When went to websites and put in my information it says no information as if it's not there. I put in the correct line ect..

@kllewis-- If you mailed your return it might still be in a pile of unopened envelopes -- so nothing is going to show up on the refund site until they dig your envelope out of the pile even if everything you enter into the refund site is correct.

Update on my original post. My return was accepted by IRS in March. It says it hasn't been processed as of August 20. I never received a stimulus check or a letter from IRS asking for more info. However I did receive a letter from the IRS today saying they didn't receive my $7.00 I owed and tacked on interest. Also, I did send in $7.00 even though my claim was not processed and the IRS sent it back. My first stimulus check would come in real handy right now.

There is nothing you can do speed up the processing of a tax return and the refund.

I understand about waiting patiently. However, the IRS is now charging me interest on the amount I owe. $7.00 that is $7. They can send me letters saying I am late on paying my taxes but also havent processed my return so they don't know if I'm eligible for my first Stimulus check. I filed in March and they accepted it March 28th. This has nothing to do with patience anymore. There is a problem. And no one to talk to about it. I'm a bartender. I'm not making $70,000 a year. Please don't provide trite answers like "wait patiently."

A) if you are getting a refund the IRS will pay YOU interest due to the delay in processing

OR

B) if you owe you can pay the IRS anytime by going online or mailing in a payment.  If you are talking about any penalties or interest on the balance due then it is calculated starting with the date the return was mailed and not processed.  If you already sent/made the payment and you got a bill then you can either ignore it and when the IRS does finally process the return it will all balance out  ... OR  mail in proof of payment with a note saying you don't owe anything.

I filed electronically with Turbo Tax. That is why I am on this site. Electronically in March. And it was accepted. A simple form. No math involved. No extra stuff. A simple ez form.

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

@Cliff Capelle What is your question?  Did you mail the return?  And you know that the IRS received it because you received a notice from the mailing service?  You still have to wait for the IRS to process your return.

The IRS has just started to work through millions of mailed returns that have been piling up in trailers during the pandemic.  All you can do is watch the IRS refund site to see when your return makes it to the surface and goes into processing. Sorry.

Per the IRS website IRS Operations During COVID-19: Mission-critical functions continue:

IRS operational status and alternatives

Processing Delays for Paper Tax Returns: Taxpayers should file electronically through their tax preparer, tax software provider, or IRS Free File

We’re experiencing delays in processing paper tax returns due to limited staffing. If you already filed a paper return, we will process it in the order we received it.

Do not file a second tax return or contact the IRS about the status of your return.

If  you mail a tax return (or a payment) to the IRS, it is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail so you will know it was received.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.

TurboTax will not know anything about your mailed return, and will continue to show “Ready to Mail” on your account.  TurboTax will not know that you put your tax return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox.  TurboTax does not get updates on mailed  (or e-filed) returns.

When the IRS finally opens its mail and begins to process mailed returns you can check the status on the IRS site. https://www.irs.gov/refunds

State returns have to be mailed to the state.
