First the TT fees are due for the service no matter what the IRS is doing with your return ... read the email that was sent alerting you to the  payment or deferral alternatives.

Next the IRS ... did they send a letter ?   Or is your return one of the millions still waiting for processing ?  If you post more info here we may be able to tell you what is up.

I got the same irs letter.
And I also got a letter from a lawyer saying TURBOTAX shouldn’t be charging people who make less then 36k a year.

I tried calling turbo tax- can’t speak with a person!   Frustrating!

I e filed through  turbo tax April 2, 2021.

They accepted it minutes later.

I've received no letter nothing  .

I've called and was told 90 % of the call that due to high call volume I would have to call back another time.

I've emailed and my refund stays says its is still being processed a dater will be available soon.

Now turbo tax wants mr to pay.

I understand I would love my money as well for my taxes and all 3 stimulus for my babies  and myself.

I opted with turbo tax option to pay upon my receiving federal tax return .

I don't understand or no what to do or why I haven't received anything!!!

Sounds like the IRS is taking too long to send your refund or reduced it. See What if the IRS reduces your refund or delays it.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/payments/help/what-if-my-federal-refund-isn-t-enough-to-cover-my-turbotax-fees/00/26313

Then when the IRS does send your refund they won't take the fees out again.

And, Why you got charged,
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/charges-and-fees/help/why-was-my-bank-account-auto-debited-for-turbotax-fees/00/26102

You should have received about 4 emails asking for the fees. If you don't pay they will debit your account. You had to agree to it. Check your spam folder for emails.

Following as same is happening with me. Filed in April, it was accepted and still waiting. Doesn’t seem right that Turbo Tax is billing people that have not received refunds due to a backlog at the IRS

TT provided a service for which you signed a contract  to pay them by a certain time (even if you did not read that contract before signing twice)  and it is not their fault the IRS is having processing issues but they have provided a payment delay option so read the first 3 emails they sent you.

Got letter from IRS.  They claim I overstated deduction for recovery rebate credit worksheet (RRCW) by 3600 vs 600.  In reviewing my IRS form RRCW I found the answer at item 3, "Were at least one of you members of the armed forces" which is automatically filled out by TT i.e. it's left blank.  TT did not answer the question but assumed the answer to be "yes".  I have not been in the armed forces so the actual answer is "No".  The difference between a yes and no answer is 3600-600 = $3000.  I reviewed the overall tax forms and did not find anyplace for an entry of "Were you a member of the armed forces?" so I had no opportunity to tell them.  Since the reason I use TT is to save time and effort by not having to review the extraneous forms, I would have hoped that you would have asked that specific question where I filled out my specifics.  Even if I had reviewed that form, I probably would not have caught that error.  I suspect this is a universal problem for person that were not in the armed forces.

We are in unprecedented times right now. While I understand the agreement in place, it is important for an organization like Turbo Tax to consider this is happening to millions of people and further delay their process .

They do have compassion and will delay the payment process however you must call them as directed on the first three emails that you received. They are not going to just delay everybody's payments across the board. You must actively ask for a deferment of payment as directed in the emails that you received.

My Federal taxes were submitted and accepted in March 2020.  I chose the option to have the funds for TurboTax taken from my refund amount.  I have not received my refund yet; the IRS is still processing it yet TurboTax submitted an ACH to receive funds for their fee last week in June.  When I called and when I read information which was given to me on the website, the only time there would be an ACH withdrawal is if the refund amount was not sufficient to cover the Turbo Taxes' fee.  In addition, I should have received at least three emails alerting me that they would be deducting the funds from my account - I never received any information AT ALL.  I was asked if I checked my SPAM account - no I did not because there would be no reason for me to do that.

It's funny they said it might go to SPAM (which it did not) because I just received a letter from TurboTax stating my account is past due.  There is no address or phone number to contact them and speak to someone personally - just through the chat.  I am very annoyed and distrustful with TurboTax because of this.

Same thing happened to me.  Yet TT wants to bill me instead of waiting for my income tax to be processed and then receive their fee as I agreed.  I read the fine print of their letter and they should not be doing this at all!!  We can't help it if the IRS is backlogged - if they don't want to wait they should not offer that option.

I received incorrect information from a service rep stating that when I signed a document I authorized an ACH withdrawal.  That's true, but only if my refund didn't cover the cost.  Mine does - whenever I receive it.

Why was my bank account auto-debited for TurboTax fees?

We understand that these are unprecedented times and we’re committed to helping our customers who are experiencing hardships. If you’re in need of assistance, call us by the Tuesday prior to your debit date at 1-888-808-1723 to speak with a trained specialist and mention “auto-debit”, or visit TurboTax Support.

When you filed your 2020 tax return, you chose Pay With My Refund, which lets you deduct your TurboTax fees from your IRS tax refund instead of paying them with a credit or debit card.

Per the Refund Processing Agreement, you authorized us to debit your bank account if your refund was insufficient to cover your fees:

In addition, by clicking the "I Agree" button below, you electronically sign and authorize Intuit (through its third party processor) to debit the TurboTax Fees, Additional Products and Services Purchased, and any applicable sales tax from your bank account number identified in the Agreement below, in the event that you do not receive a tax refund that is sufficient to pay for them.

Before we debited your account, you would have received 4 emails from us:

  1. An email with instructions to pay your TurboTax fees (minus the Refund Processing fee, if any) online by a certain date.
  2. Two more follow-up emails asking that you either pay or request a deferment to prevent the fees from being automatically debited from your bank account.
  3. A final email letting you know that we're debiting the fees (minus the Refund Processing fee, if any) and that the auto-debit process cannot be stopped.

You can also be auto-debited if you signed up for Pay With My Refund and your refund is sufficient, but the IRS is still holding your refund 36 days after your original estimated refund date. In this case, you'll get the same email notifications from us, except we will debit the Pay With My Refund fee (if any) in addition to your other TurboTax fees.

Read the rest of this thread if you used the refund processing service and the refund has been delayed by the IRS.

TURBOTAX TOOK MONEY OUT OF MY BANK ACCOUNT

Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund?  Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive?  Or was your refund seized to pay a debt you owed? if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account.  TurboTax would have sent several emails to you before they took the money out of your account.

You will not pay the TurboTax fees again.    You will still pay the "refund processing fee" to the third party bank when your refund is issued.

Yep ... that is normal this year and there is nothing you can do to speed up the processing of the return.  Check that tool once a week until you see movement.

@trumper25 Millions of tax refunds have been delayed because the IRS is severely backlogged.   TurboTax cannot speed the IRS up for you.    If you have read even a few of the posts in this thread that you posted to, you would see that many people are experiencing delays.    If you are posting because you received an email about your fees----read this thread.   Or read this information which has already been provided multiple times.

From this IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations-during-covid-19-mission-critical-functions-continue

As of May 15, 2021, we had 300,000 individual tax returns received prior to 2021 in the processing pipeline. Including current year returns, as of May 15, 2021, we had 16.4 million unprocessed individual returns in the pipeline. Unprocessed returns include those requiring correction to the Recovery Rebate Credit amount or validation of 2019 income used to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). This work does not require us to correspond with taxpayers but does require special handling by an IRS employee so, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue any related refund. If, as a result, a correction is made to any RRC, EITC or ACTC claimed on the return, the IRS will send taxpayers an explanation. Taxpayers are encouraged to continue to check Where’s My Refund? for their personalized refund status and can review Tax Season Refund Frequently Asked Questions.
