I was accepted for a refund advance but haven’t received it. why?

I was initially approved after I filed for a $500 advance and it’s been well over 48 hours since both federal and state have been accepted and no advance as of yet with a $0 balance still. In my email, I got the mass email that then said “even though you may have not been approved for a refund advance” though I took a screenshot of the $500 I was approved for after filing and it being approved. What is the problem? I seen advertised that TurboTax gives an advance an hour after being approved and of course it says “up to 48 hours”. I have my temporary card info for online purchases but that’s not working as the balance again, says it’s $0.

You will not receive a final decision of whether you are approved for the Loan until after you file your taxes and the IRS accepts your return. If you qualify for Refund Advance and are approved for the Turbo Visa Debit Card, you’ll be notified by email of the approved amount and you’ll be able to start spending online, typically within 48 hours of the IRS accepting your return, sometimes a little bit longer.

This is the first time I’ve have not been accepted to receive one, and the first of using Turbo. Your website and ads are very misleading and upon reading other reviews, I’m not the only one to see this. Turbo should consider doing away with the “You have been accepted for a advance of $500” page after filing. Super misleading, as any other tax website or company actually give you the advance if told you are accepted.

Mine was approved and I got the email with my virtual card information on February 13th when the irs accepted my refund however I still have a zero balance on the cars and have not received any money. And I cannot get any answers when I call the turbo card customer service. They tell me to call the irs who you can't even talk to a live person

Unfortunately, we are not able to answer any questions about not receiving a refund advance in this forum. This is for TurboTax software support and questions about filing taxes only. You will need to contact Turbo Visa customer support at

(888) 285-4169 again.

Just to clarify, you have created your online account and the card is active?

This is complete bs.

Got approved for the cash advance after filing my taxes which was approved by the IRS and TurboTax claims you'll get money in minutes.

This is going to turn into yet ANOTHER lawsuit for false advertising and I've already reached out to the law firm who handled the "Free tax filing" settlement against Turbo Tax

I was approved for Advance refund from credit karma. My federal tax was accepted on 1/20/23. Here it is 1/25/2023 and still no refund. I also did credit karma tracker and it states federal and state N/A. I've called turbo tax and the rep states she can see I was approved for me to call credit karma. So I called credit karma and they said to call turbo tax. I'm getting the run around. Oh I also had advance refund last year, received it with no problems. I am the only person having this problem?

Same situation. Turbo Tax says my returns was accepted however when I check the IRS  "Wheres My Refund" is doesn't show accepted.

Seems like TurboTax and Credit Karma loves getting sued because what they are doing is falsely misleading yet again and I've contacted the lawyers who handled the previous lawsuits

Please make sure the primary taxpayer's information on the return matches the information in the Credit Karma account.

What these Turbo Tax people fail to understand is that on TurboTax it shows my state and federal have been accepted but yet on the IRS is doesn't show accepted...

What you guys are doing is misleading and it's gonna end up in another lawsuit

I JUST SPENT WELL OVER AN HOUR WITH TURBOTAX AND WHILE THE AGENT WAS NICE AND PLEASANT THERE WAS ABSOLUTE NO RESOLVE WHATSOEVER! TURBOTAX GET YOUR S*** TOGTHER AND DELIVER WHAT YOU PROMISE. @MoniqueLO_ No offense to you but this is Turbotax, Credit Karma and Inuits mistake. Again no offense but I am pretty sure we all followed the directions per Turbotax and Credit Karma's instructions. This is a direct problem with the companies software or their procedures and not due to customer error! I am just guessing but I think anyone of us customers who are wondering where our money is has already double and triple checked what they input. AGAIN NOT A CONSUMER ISSUE! THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH EITHER FALSE ADVERTISEMENT OR FAULTY PRODUCT! EITHER WAY TURBOTAX NEEDS TO FIX IT NOW! YOU PROMISED SOMETHING AND YOU DIDN'T DELIVER IT. MY BOOK THAT'S CALLED THEFT! I UNDERSTAND YOU WERE JUST TRYING TO HELP BUT UNDERSTAND WE HAVE ALL JUST SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS DEALING WITH THIS AND THE ANSWER YOU PROVIDED IS BASICALLY WHAT WE HAVE HEARD FROM EVERYONE WHO HAS DONE NOTHING BUT GIVE US THE RUN AROUND. TECHNICAL ISSUE'S ARE NOT THE CONSUMERS PROBLEM. THEY ARE YOURS!

This is bs. I agree. You can't advertise to a whole freaking country that you can get a refund advance if approved within 15 min after being accepted from the irs. I was approved 1000 mine was accepted 3 days ago and still nothing. Everyone e is giving me the run around. Turbo tax says to call credit karma.  Credit karma tells me to keep waiting. At this point I'm gonna a receive my refund before I even get the dang advance if I even get it! This is crap. At least someone needs to own up to something and give me some answers. Because yall both said I was approved 1000. So where's my money? You can't Mess with peoples money that we all work so hard for and then expect us not to be mad? And then keep giving us the run around?? I want answers and I want my advance! I don't wanna read no help forum. I want someone to tell me exactly where my money is. Like now.

@Cbiggs4141

You won't receive a final decision of whether you are approved for the loan until after you file your taxes and the IRS has opened.  IRS opens Jan 29.

@Cbiggs4141   Not sure what part of this old thread you are commenting on---but if it is in regard to the refund advance-----you do not get any money from that until the IRS accepts your e-file.  The IRS will not begin to accept/reject e-files until January 29.  If you were approved for the advance, start watching your emails around the end of January.

No I am having same problem. My federal was accepted two days ago and still nothing. I got approved for a $2000 advance and it’s ridiculous because they claim you receive the money with 4 minutes of IRS accepting. I read on here a lot responses that say within 48 hrs which again is misleading because they make you think you get it within minutes.
