Ann u were post take it out of my federal return
TurboTax does not receive updates from the IRS once they have accepted your return. The IRS issues most refunds in about 21 days, although some returns take more time to review. To find out where your refund is, first check your e-file status. If it's been processed and accepted, you can begin to track your refund at the IRS Where's My Refund? site. You'll need your Social Security number or ITIN, filing status, and the exact amount of your refund to check your status. The IRS will issue your refund when your return is approved.
If it has been more than 21 days since your return was accepted, You will need to contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and follow the prompts for a live representative. The person that you speak with will have direct access to your tax return and be able to provide you with a status update.
When you call, make sure you have the following information:
When calling the IRS do NOT choose Option 1.
Choose Option 2 after you choose the language.
Please click When will I get my IRS tax refund? to learn more.
Yeah that doesn’t work. There is no one available to speak with.
The online link is your best option to track your refund. I have attached a link with more answers from the IRS as to why your refund may be taking longer to process.
There is a delay in processing the returns as the IRS is not processing paper returns at the moment due to Covid-19 and social distancing policies in effect.
I've been trying to get hold of them since last week but I keep getting the same message saying " Due to high call volume we cannot take your call, please try again later or next day". I got a mail asking for Form 8962 and a copy of 1095 A which I already mailed it back to them and since then on checking my status online it's saying "Your tax return is still being processed."
Please share your thoughts.
All IRS operations especially the processing of manual forms mailed or faxed, are much slower during the pandemic.
Please read this IRS document for more information.
I have not heard from the IRS or been able to get an answer from them. My return was accepted Feb. 12, 2021. Any suggestions? I got my state return back. Checked the where is my refund site only says processing.
What about e filing through turbo tax? Why is it so delayed?
It depends. Did you have unemployment benefits. So to not have to process thousands of amended returns, if you had unemployment benefits the IRS could be holding your return for processing once their systems are updated for the American Rescue Plan Act that excludes the first $10,200 of unemployment benefits, if your adjusted gross income is less than $150,000.
If you have earned income credit and/or additional child tax credit, it is probably delayed. Returns with either of these credits are covered under the PATH act, which gives the IRS authority to delay the refund to verify dependent information on your return. For 2020, the IRS was not issuing refunds for these returns until the 1st week of March.
Do you have any refund offsets such as back taxes, student loans, child support, state obligations (Court costs), etc. This could delay your refund. If you answered the stimulus questions incorrectly, this could delay your refund.
Did you enter the correct stimulus payment information in TurboTax. The IRS is matching payments made to amounts indicated on your tax return. If you received a payment but trying to claim the Recovery Rebate credit, you will be receiving a letter.
Keep checking IRS.gov "Where's my Refund" for the most up to date information.
There are a number of reasons why a tax return refund could be delayed.
See IRS Let Us Help You for ways to reach the IRS. Or, click this link to determine what is on file at IRS: View Your Tax Account Information. Since it has been more than 21 days, check with the IRS to find out why.

So I was wondering why I haven't gotten my refund. Did it at H and R block. They stated they put in the wrong stimulus amount. So now I will be getting 1000 dollars less back. What can I do now? They said I can't amend it and it's still pending.
If you filed your return through HR Block you need to go back to them for any info.
If the IRS Adjusted your return for the wrong Stimulus amount there's nothing you can do or amend.
Did you receive the full amount for both the first 2 Stimulus payments? Better check your 1040 line 30 and see if an amount is listed. That's been a common problem. You might have answered the Stimulus questions wrong and tried to claim it again or some more on line 30. So the IRS took it off because you already got it. They know they sent it to you.

I think you meant processing and not pending.
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
The IRS will adjust you tax return if the amount of the Recovery Rebate Credit entered on your 2020 federal tax return was incorrect. There is no need for you to amend the 2020 federal tax return.
The IRS is seriously behind in processing 2020 tax returns. This is due to many factors, such as the pandemic, completing processing of millions of 2019 tax returns, stimulus payments, unemployment compensation exclusion tax refunds., changes in the tax code by Congress in the middle of the 2020 tax season and the like.
Millions of taxpayers have not yet received there federal tax refunds.

As of July 31, 2021, we had 13.8 million unprocessed individual returns. Unprocessed individual returns include tax year 2020 returns such as those requiring correction to the Recovery Rebate Credit amount or validation of 2019 income used to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). This work does not require us to correspond with taxpayers but does require special handling by an IRS employee so, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue any related refund and in some cases this work could take 90 to 120 days. If, as a result, a correction is made to any RRC, EITC or ACTC claimed on the return, the IRS will send taxpayers an explanation. Taxpayers are encouraged to continue to check Where’s My Refund? for their personalized refund status and can review Tax Season Refund Frequently Asked Questions.
What you should do: In most instances, no further action is needed but you may check Where’s my refund or you can view your account. If you filed electronically and received an acknowledgement, you do not need to take any further action other than promptly responding to any requests for information. If you filed on paper, check Where’s my refund? If it tells you we have received your return or are processing or reviewing it, we are processing your return, but it may be under review. We’re working hard to get through the backlog. Please don’t file a second tax return or contact the IRS about the status of your return.
I have been visiting the irs site to check my refund status. Last time I checked it was processing. today the site can't provide any information about my refund status. Now what?
Please see Why is there no record of my return at Where's My Refund (WMR)? for reasons why you may be unable to track the status of your refund. You can also try calling the WMR automated hotline at 1-800-829-1954 to check the status of your refund.
I have not received my tax return and I paid for it and it was supposed to be sent to me on September 2020 and I never got it

You will have to contact the IRS for the status of the 2020 federal tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
