I never received the $1100 stimulus for my daughter being born in 2020. I’ve already filed my taxes this year. How do I go about receiving it?

I did receive other stimulus payments like the $1400 for her but not the $1100 from last year.

How to get a copy after filing

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-get-a-copy-of-a-return-i-filed-this-year-in-turbotax-online/00/25932

Here's an alternate way to print by opening the filed return back up to print at the Print Center, where you can also get the worksheets.

Log in and at the Tax Home or in the section Your Tax Returns & Documents for 2020, look for a link Add a State.  Click on Add a State.  (you don't really add one.  That's just to open your return back up.)

After the return is open, click in the left menu column on TAX TOOLS, then PRINT CENTER.

Then choose Print, save, view this year's return.

The next screen should offer some options:  Just my tax returns or include government worksheets (optional), or include government and TurboTax worksheets (optional.)

Did you not get the 10,200 exclusion for unemployment?

If you already filed and didn't get the 10,200 unemployment exclusion you do not need to amend.  The IRS will be adjusting it for you.  See,

https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-to-recalculate-taxes-on-unemployment-benefits-refunds-to-start-in-may

You can log back into your return and it should automatically update your return and show you the new refund.  But the updated return won't be sent.  The IRS will adjust it for you.

If you have unemployment you can exclude up to 10,200 for each person if your income is under $150,000.  Your unemployment compensation will be on Schedule 1 line 7.  The exclusion will be on Schedule 1 Line 8 as a negative number. The result flows to Form 1040 Line 8.

You didn't get the $1100 on 1040 line 30?  Did she show up as a dependent on your return?  A child born (even on Dec 31) is considered to live with you the whole year.  Did you pick the Whole Year at the top of the drop down box?

Do you have anything on line 30?  If you are missing some of the first or second Stimulus payments or qualify for more but nothing got added on line 30 then you do have to amend to claim it.

yes she showed up as a dependent. I filed online so there wasn’t a place to put a stimulus payment for her, only for myself. I honestly can’t remember if I checked the box that said the whole year or not. I also can’t see if I’m missing anything online 30 since I filed online. I tried to amend my taxes because they still owe me more from unemployment, But the online system says I am not able to amend right now.

Wow thank you so much for your help! If I have any other questions I’ll definitely be asking you in regards to the $1100 I have yet to receive for my daughter born in 2020. Thank you!

So I’m currently looking at my document and on line 30, it says recovery rebate credit, see instructions and the amount is the $1100.

what do I do from here? I still haven’t received that.

Good, if it's on line 30 it is included in your tax refund or reduced a tax due.  You don't get it separately.  Did you get your refund yet?

Yes I did get it but they still owe me more for taxing my unemployment over the amount they were supposed to tax. For that, they’ll automatically adjust it correct?

Yes.  They will send you a refund for the unemployment exemption.

First, make sure your daughter is an eligible dependent and listed on your return. Now to amend.

  1. Log into Turbo Tax assuming you use Turbo Tax online
  2. When you reach the landing page, scroll to the bottom where your tax returns and documents are.
  3. Select 2020, and click on the option to amend and change return.
  4. Answer the questions about why you are amending
  5. Once you begin working in your return, your refund monitor will reset to 0.
  6. Once you are working in your return, go to federal review.
  7. First question will ask if you and your spouse received stimulus payments, here you will say yes.
  8. Then it asks you to double check the amounts you received.  Assuming you received full stimulus payments for yourselves and your child, it should read $2900 for the first round and $1800 for the second round you didn't receive this, you will indicate no and an additional dropdown will generate asking how much money you did receive in the first and second payment.
  9. If it reads $2400 for the first round and $1200 for the second round, then it doesn't recognize your child as a dependent and you will need to edit the information in the MY INFO section of your return to make sure she is a eligible dependent.
  10. Examples, I gave assumes you have one child and not taking into account you may have other children that were also eligible for the stimulus payments.
