On the Icon to open the Tax Return.
DO NOT PRESS "Continue" - Press "Delete" on your computer keyboard. - Choose what you want to delete. Done
As long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered, you can erase your return (and start from scratch if you need to) in TurboTax Online. Refer to the following Help Article for assistance: How do I clear and start over in TurboTax Online?
If you need assistance locating your account, refer to our Account Recovery Request Help Article.
If you have not submitted them you can start over. This article will provide information on Clearing & Starting Over after you've registered. Clear and start over
This Turbo Tax FAQ will provide information on accessing the correct account. How many TurboTax accounts do I have?
I originally started a return, but Turbo Tax mistakenly entered a 1099-MISC on Schedule C instead of Schedule E and I couldn't get rid of it, so I just started a new return, entered ALL my information again and made sure Turbo Tax did not put the 1099-MISC information on Schedule C. I completed this NEW return, both federal and state, and e-filed my federal return.
Now, when I open Turbo Tax that original (with a Schedule C included) is still available as a choice to complete. I can't tell which one is the right one and which one is the wrong one, and Turbo Tax won't let me delete the wrong file.
If I try to move the xxx.tax2020 file from where it is now (......../TurboTax/2020) to an obscure directory, will Turbo Tax find it and try to make it active again?
The only tax file that should be in your list of tax files is the return that you filed with the IRS. My suggestion to delete all your .tax files from your computer and then reintroduce the correct tax file. If you are using Turbo Tax online.
It'll be interesting to see if this gets posted or heavily edited.
Click and highlight the return you want to delete. Do NOT click "Continue." Then hit the "Delete" key on your keyboard. It'll ask you a what you want to delete.. This is such a *ucked up method. Who would even think to hit the "Delete" key, not me, and I'm a pretty smart guy. It's NOT "INTUI-tive at all. Geez. You should be able to delete it with a "right mouse click"
Two more things. MAKE THIS TEXT "BLACK" NOT "GREY." It's very HARD TO READ. Doing taxes is hard enough so give our old, tired eyes a break, make the type readable.
One more thing, It seems to me Intuit does NOT want us to donate to the Presidential Election fund. WHY NOT? That should be one the first questions asked in personal information, not where you have to search for hours to find it. And like I said, I'm a pretty smart guy and if I have trouble, think of all the folks out there who have one less point of I.Q. than me or I. Very troubling in today’s world.
OTHER THAN THAT, THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT PROGRAM. I CAN’T IMAGINE DOING TAXES BY HAND. UGH. Thank you.
I tried to delete a Junk tax return by selecting it and not hitting "continue" but rather hitting "delete".
This did not work.
If you weren't able to delete the return try this instead: Start the program and on the first page click the blue Find A Tax File link at the bottom of the box. In the list that pops up you can right click on the file and choose delete.
You can also delete it from Windows. The tax files end in .tax2020 and should be in your Documents folder and then in a Turbo Tax subfolder. Here you can delete it.
Please follow the instructions in this TurboTax FAQ to contact customer support if you need additional assistance: What is the TurboTax phone number?
I have searched directly on the turbo tax site to complete my taxes using the simple form. The site doe not make it easy to start over. I simply wish to file for free, using the simple form. The option appears to be hidden on the site to start over and use a simple form.
PLEASE DELETE ALL MY INFORMATION if the the option to delete my personal information/forms and start over using the simple tax form is not an option. very frustrating!!!!

The TurboTax Free online edition is for very simple tax returns that do not require any other form or schedule other than the Form 1040. If your tax data requires entry on any other form or schedule then you must upgrade to the Deluxe edition or higher.
If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2020 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.
OR -
You can use the TurboTax Free File Program - https://freefile.intuit.com/

If you are eligible you can use the IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax which is free to file both a federal and state tax return. The IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax edition is a full featured personal tax program and on a separate website from the TurboTax online editions.

The simple instruction did not work for me. However, I "right-clicked" on the return I wanted to delete, and THEN hit the delete key on my computer keyboard, it gave me the option to delete from both TurboTax online and on my computer.
I'm trying to delete my old tax from since I've already filled my tax return and so I still have one that's opwn
This is 100% correct. I just did this! Even though you can't put the mouse on the icon, simply seeing it as @alicktax mentioned, then clicking delete on the keyboard, a box will pop up and ask if you want the Return deleted from TT or from TT and your Desktop. Select the option for you, and it is deleted!
Yes, you can delete your entries and start with a fresh TurboTax Online return.
Follow these instructions on how to clear and start over in TurboTax Online, or clear and start over in the mobile app.
If you are using any version of TurboTax CD/Download (including Business), you can simply start a new return and delete the original file from your computer (TurboTax files end with .tax2021).
My name is Salex Francis and I’m can’t find my agi on my turbo taxes it pending my taxes and I been so aggravated with my taxes I try to start over and it be an aggravated taxes year for me because everyone have their taxes money but me I’m try to do it online so I want have to go pay no one else so please can you help salex get her taxes done and make sure it right to thank you I’m so stress and aggravated at the same time
@SalexFrancis Sorry I didn't understand all your post. Do you need the 2020 AGI to efile your return?
You need your 2020 AGI to efile 2021. The AGI is on 2020 1040 line 11. If you filed a Joint return you use the same AGI for each spouse.
How to find the AGI.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/agi/help/how-do-i-find-last-year-s-agi/01/25947
If you didn't file 2020 or filed it later in the year or mailed it, then try entering 0 for the AGI. If that doesn't work you will have to print and mail your return.
Or request a transcript from the IRS
