Haven't filed my 2018 Federal Return. I must make changes. How to do so witnout Turbo Tax automatically making it an "Ammended" 1040X form (which I am now stuck with?)?

NEVER try to "amend" a return that has not been filed in the first place.   Amending is a special process to use only if your return was filed and fully processed by the IRS, and then you discover that you need to make a correction of some sort.

I clicked on “amend” by mistake

Once you get out of "amending" you can go back to your return and fix the mistakes, then either e-file it or print, sign and mail it.

Thank you!  However, Turbo Deluxe online does not offer me a "cancel" button to cancel the amended return.  While the software tells me my Federal return is filed with TurboTax Deluxe, the RETURN STATUS says: "Printed".  I'm in a situation where I can't electronically file, but must print and send it in.  So my return is not filed yet, since I haven't mailed it.  How can I get the software to allow me to cancel my amended return and then adjust and print my regular return?  Thank you!

@DoninGA

In this situation--can this user get out of the amended return, and get back to the original?  Or does he need to abandon ship and start over?  Thanks for any help!

@budapest100 If you go back to your 2018 tax return, is there a Cancel amend link on the left side of the screen?  If so, then click on that link and then select  Yes, I want to cancel my amended return and Continue.

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state. See screenshot

 This will take you back to the 2018 online tax return.
