Have not received my taxes yet. Is it because I switched this year to turbo tax instead of using my normal tax preparer?

The amount of time it takes the IRS to process your return is not affected by whether you used tax software or had a paid preparer.   The IRS is backlogged and many refunds are taking longer than usual.   If you are not used to preparing your own tax return using software, it is possible that you made some sort of mistake that is adding to your delay----that has happened to many people who answered questions incorrectly in regard to the recovery rebate credit or the child tax credit.  We cannot see your return, so we do not know if those credits are on your return.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

No, it’s because the IRS has been backlogged for the past 2 years. You just have to wait it out. If they need something they will contact you by mail. It’s taking months not weeks to process at this rate.
