You can check the status of your Colorado refund online here

There is no need to log in. Simply choose the option "Where's My Refund for Individuals" in the box labeled "Refund Resources". Then, enter your SSN or ITIN and the refund amount you claimed on your current year's income tax return. If you do not know the refund amount you claimed, you may either use a Letter ID number from a recent income tax correspondence from the Colorado Department of Revenue.

I have the same problem. Colorado online service says tax return has not been received but Turbo tax sent the tax return a week ago. Federal refund is already showing as pending in my checking account.

The Colorado Department of Revenue is delaying the accept of 2022 returns.

The Colorado Department of Revenue is currently not accepting Income Tax Returns on the Department’s free Revenue Online website for the 2022 Tax Year. Coloradans will be able to use Revenue Online to file their state income taxes no later than February 22, 2023. The delay is due in part to numerous pending changes brought on by a busy 2022 legislative session and required system maintenance.

The Department of Revenue’s ability to accept and queue 2022 individual income tax returns has been be delayed from the usual start date of January 1 to no later than February 10, 2023 for the majority of state income tax filers. Coloradans can still file their income tax returns through paper filing and Modern e-Filing (MeF).

I can confirm with ErnieS0. I filed FED and Colorado STATE on Jan 26th, and for the last 10 years, I have always received an acceptance email from TurboTax for the state of Colorado within 24 hours. This year, still no acceptance email, and my TurboTax desktop application still says "Pending". (I have already received my Federal refund.)

I contacted the Colorado DOR via phone and they confirmed that you can "file" using a third party filer, ie TurboTax, but they will be "accepting" the returns "no later than February 10, 2023". Before 2/3/23, the website link that ErnieS0 posted did not give dates and only said that they would be accepting returns sometime the first week of February. They have now posted a "no later than" date. I assume that means they will start batching all our returns sometime before 2/10/23, and we should get an acceptance email from TurboTax on or before that date. Once they have accepted, you can then use MonikaK1 suggestion of checking the status.

Since this is an additional paid service with TurboTax, I feel that TurboTax should have had a better way to relay this information. There should be a schedule somewhere on their website for states that are not ready to accept e-files, especially since TurboTax states that should happen within 48 hours.

I will post back here when I receive my acceptance email from TurboTax. I would ask you do the same. And thanks for your inquiry, for the first few days, this was driving me nuts!😜

It is now the 10th and still no updates, no communications, nothing.  The lack of communication around this is another step towards just not using TT anymore.  I was about done with TT when they quit showing the change logs.

In addition to CO being behind, the IRS has asked residents of 22 states to delay filing their return while they determine if the tax rebates last year are taxable. This includes CO.  See more at Important Tax Alerts and News | Internal Revenue Service which states:

The IRS is aware of questions involving special tax refunds or payments made by states in 2022; we are working with state tax officials as quickly as possible to provide additional information and clarity for taxpayers.  There are a variety of state programs that distributed these payments in 2022 and the rules surrounding them are complex.

If your return is accepted and if you are affected by new ruling, you will need to amend.

@FutureExCust

The IRS ruled today that CO payments for general welfare and disaster relief are excludable from your tax return!

You will not need to amend.

GOOD NEWS

. I received the TurboTax email at 2:00 am this morning, 2/11, that says the state of Colorado has accepted my return that was filed on 1/26/23. Only 2 hours past the "no later than date" of 2/10/23 posted on the Colorado DOR site https://tax.colorado.gov/ROL-Delays-Acceptance-of-2022-Returns. Not bad Colorado. I also received TurboTax CO state acceptation emails at 6:13 am this morning, 2/11, for two other returns that were filed on 2/2/23. I have checked the Colorado DOR site for the status of all these returns and the one I filed on 1/26/23 shows "Refund Reviewed", but the other two show as "Not Yet Processed".

@FutureExCust

I cannot speak to

other

 issues you have had with TT, but this particular one was not the fault of TT. I do agree and suggest to TT that there should have been notification to all Colorado filers of this delay as was noted in my

previous

 post.

@AmyC

Thank you for your additional information of the IRS request to delay filing. I have an issue of how TT has handled this situation. I use TT so that

I

 do not have to spend time studying tax code. I have in the past done my own business tax returns and spent hours studying tax code. The main reason I pay for TT is that they will do this for me. Colorado distributed TABOR cash refunds to millions of people last year. This was not a fringe tax issue. The Colorado DOR site even suggested that this would not be taxable. So if TT was aware that the IRS could possibly tax these refunds, then it was absolutely

their responsibility to notify their paying clients of this issue. TT issues desktop app updates every Thursday (sometimes Friday). They flag forms that are not ready to be filed, so there is no reason why they could not have flagged this issue within the program. I would have gladly waited until yesterday when they learned the refunds would not be taxable. Had I had to submit three amended returns because of this, I would have looked twice at using TT in the future. I will reiterate, I pay for this app so that I do not have to spend my personal time learning tax code. I hope the tax experts can understand this and forward this to the Powers That Be.

All that being said, and to end on a positive note, I have had a great experience with TT for the past 10 years. The desktop apps have rarely caused issue and the experts and knowledge base have always been helpful. Thanks to all who have contributed to addressing this particular issue.

I filed Colorado with TurboTax on 1/23.  I check the Colorado online today and it still says not filed.  Who do I contact inside Turbo Tax?

Are you checking with TurboTax or the Colorado Department of Revenue? Colorado had a delay in processing returns due in part to numerous pending changes brought on by a busy 2022 legislative session and required system maintenance.

Your filing may not show up yet in their system.

If TurboTax says your state was not filed, you can go back into your account and file state.

Last November Coloradans voted to lower the income tax rate to 4.4%, which coupled with multiple legislative changes created a much larger end-of-year programming workload for the Department, resulting in the slight delay.

The Department of Revenue planned to accept and queue individual income tax returns by no later than Feb. 10,

Yes, I checked the status via the Colorado website where you enter SSN and refund amount.  It said I had not yet filed.

TurboTax is saying pending.

Again who can I contact in TurboTax to find out whether the problem is with Colorado or TurboTax?

My Colorado State return is STILL pending, filed on 1/23. However, I noticed the pending date on the Turbo Tax website updated to 2/14 instead of 1/23 on the 15th. It seems like those who used other services like Free Tax USA initially saw the delay as well, but theirs started processing in Feb while many TurboTax users see their Colorado state pending on TurboTax website, but 'not received' on the Colorado refund tracker.

Mine changed to the same thing from 01/23/2023 to 02/14/2023 and turbo tax told me it was their way of communicating to the state that the return still has not been accepted or rejected. Its not 02/17/2023 and its still showing as pending. Its so frustrating

i'm so glad i'm not the only one. I thought i was going crazy. I know people who filed on the 15th and got accepted right away, but i filed on 01/23 and as of 02/17/2023 its still pending. Its annoying

I called Colorado - the state stated that anyone who filed between 01/21-01/25 turbo tax used the incorrect tax code and those will be rejected. Now it’s up to Colorado to actually reject the filing so that we can re-file with TT using the correct tax rate. I filed mine on the Jan 21st…. Of course, and as of 02/17/2023 it’s still showing as pending.

the pending date did change however from 01/23/2023 to 02/14/2023 but no one can tell me what that means.

@MariaJones271

Seems you are having an issue beyond the posted Colorado delay. This is not a rub, just FYI for everyone posting here, but I have now received my Colorado refund via direct deposit for my return that was filed on 1/26/23. And the Colorado DOR site says "Refund Reviewed" for two different returns that were filed on 2/2/23. I used the macOS desktop application, TT Deluxe version. You may want to start a new discussion for your issue of: "

anyone who filed between 01/21-01/25 turbo tax used the incorrect tax code and those will be rejected

".

@ErnieS0  and @AmyC

Can any of the experts confirm what @MariaJones271  is saying about what she was told by the Colorado DOR support people? If this is confirmed, it would be prudent for TT to flag that issue for all filers affected.

Just wanted to update everyone. My tax return was finally rejected today like Colorado state said it would - because I filed between the period of 01/21-01/25. The turbo tax rejection notice stated that when I filed, it was under old Colorado tax rate. I re-filed earlier today with the correct tax rate and got more money. Also, I was told by TT representative that Colorado was approving their backlog from Jan 29th, and this week/early next week Colorado will start accepting/rejecting anyone who has filed between 01/21-01/25. Hope this helps!

I'm guessing Colorado is still accepting the returns? It states my state taxes have been received but when tracking on the department of Revenue it says return not received... Is there some other issues?

This Turbo Tax FAQ will show you how to check your e-file status, as this is something we will not know. You will also receive an email advising you of the return being accepted or rejected. If you opted in for text messages, you will receive that also.

How do I check my e-file status?
