Every time I click the option "Download/Print Return(PDF)" I get this message
"To download your past TurboTax returns, you need to register your account first
We’ll walk you through the steps to do this—it shouldn’t take long."
My account is registered and I have been using Turbo Tax since 2014 and have previously downloaded them before with no issue.

EDIT: I figured it out! Thank you!
I believe I have already gotten past this point because I started my 2019 taxes, but I am still receiving the same message.
I can not download nor can I get a PDF of my tax return! Obviously it is imperative to have it. I will be happy to send you a screen shot of the error message. I am extreamly unhappy with Turbo tax, think I'l go back to another company next year.

How do I access a prior year return?
Or go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf
When I downloaded the 2019 return, my 2018 filing came up as usual. I entered my Social Security and check basic information. All good.
Going back in to download brokerage information, last year's numbers were gone and this year's down load doesn't seem right.

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

Had the same problem and finally talked to a real person from TurboTax. You have to use Google Chrome
as your browser, then go back into your turbotax acct. and you can download/print your return with no problems. Every other browser will give you a download of gibberish.
It is almost impossible for me to get help with the question of how to download 2017 and 2018 tax returns prepared with TurboTax
I had this problem for two years -and then I figured out I had backed up my computer files and then deleted old financial information from my computer. When I went to the back ups and retrieved the TurboTax files into my docs the current TurboTax could retrieve them.
why does'nt 2018 income and expense show up on the 2019 bussiness income and expse area o the turbo tax bussiness return like the past?

You are probably using an Edge web browser. The Edge browser changes the file extension form .pdf to .txt. Rename the file extension of the download back to .pdf so that it can be opened by any compatible PDF application , such as Adobe Reader.

You have to sign onto your 2018 online account using the exact same user ID you used to create the online account.
Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one). Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.
Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery
