What if I entered the wrong address for my refund check?
If you’re concerned that you’ve entered the wrong address on your tax return (or you moved since filing), first check to see if it’s correct by following these steps:
Go to Tax Home, then Your tax returns & documents.
Select Show more, then Download/Print PDF to get a copy of your return.
The mailing address you used for filing will be on the first page of your return.
If your mailing address is incorrect, you'll need to update your mailing address with the IRS by calling 800-829-1040. Be prepared to provide your full name, old and new addresses, and your Social Security number (SSN), Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), or Employer Identification Number (EIN).
The IRS is phasing out paper check refunds starting on September 30, 2025. After this date, the IRS may send your refund through debit cards, digital wallet payments, or other types of electronic payments.
