What if I entered the wrong address for my refund check?
by TurboTax• Updated 1 week ago
If you’re concerned that you’ve entered the wrong address on your tax return (or you moved since filing), first check to see if it’s correct by following these steps:
- Sign in to your TurboTax Online account.
- Navigate to Your tax returns & documents.
- Select Show more and then Download/Print PDF to get a copy of your return.
- The mailing address you used for filing will be on the first page of your return.
If your mailing address is incorrect, you will need to update your mailing address with the IRS by calling call 800-829-1040. Be prepared to provide your full name, old and new addresses, and your Social Security number (SSN), Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), or Employer Identification Number (EIN).
The IRS is phasing out paper check refunds starting on September 30, 2025. After this date, the IRS may send your refund through debit cards, digital wallet payments, or other types of electronic payments.
I chose up to 5 days early refund delivery, Refund Advance, or Pay with My Refund
If you chose up to 5 days early refund delivery, Refund Advance, or Pay with My Refund and your address is incorrect, call 800-4INTUIT.
We can return your refund to the IRS. Then you will need to contact the IRS at 800-829-1040 to update your mailing address with them. TurboTax can’t do this on your behalf.
