Due to an error in TurboTax, certain taxpayers received credit for excess Social Security that they were not entitled to receive.

As a result, affected taxpayers underpaid their federal income taxes.

If we notified you, we recommend you review your return and amend your return as soon as possible

To review your return, schedule an appointment with a TurboTax expert to correct and file your amended return.

To schedule an appointment:

  1. From the Tax Home, select Full Service, then Set up a call

  2. Select New info that could affect my return, then Continue

  3. Enter your full name, email, and phone number, then select Get a call

If you have questions, you can call us at 844-333-2161 (Monday–Friday, 5 AM to 5 PM PT). When you speak with a TurboTax expert, mention 2025 Excess Social Security so they know what you’re calling about.
