Can I transfer last year's PDF into TurboTax Desktop 2025?
You can transfer basic information if your 2024 PDF is a 1040 return generated through TurboTax, H&R Block, or TaxACT software (Form 1040-SR isn't supported for PDF transfer) A tax data file will provide a more complete import.
Be aware that in some cases TurboTax won't be able to read the PDF, for example, if it's password-protected or is a scanned copy of a PDF instead of an actual PDF file.
TurboTax Desktop only supports PDFs from 2024.
Here's how to transfer your PDF into TurboTax Desktop:
Sign into your TurboTax account to access returns for 2024.
Choose New Tax Return from the File menu.
Select Begin or Start a New Return under Manage Your Returns.
On the Let's Get a Jumpstart on Your 2025 Taxes screen, select Use a tax return that's on my computer.
Follow any on-screen instructions.
