Why is standard deduction showing as 5,994.00 and not 12,400.00?

You may need to review your input in the program.

It sounds like you may have selected to take the itemized deductions instead of using the higher of the standard deduction or itemized deduction.

Please see the following link for instructions on to have TurboTax optimize your deduction.

Are you a dependent on someone else's return?  The Standard Deduction for an individual for whom an exemption can be claimed on another person's tax return is limited to the greater of:

…..$1,100 or

…..Your earned income for the year + $350 (but not more than 12,400)

So you would get a minimum of $1,100.
