WHERE DO I ADD SPOUSE 1099-R INCOME

I've entered my retirement income (1099-r), now where do I enter my spouse's retirement income from her 1099-r?

You enter it in the same section you entered your 1099-R.  Just pay close attention to the small checkbox on the Form 1099-R screen (see screenshot below).  Return to the 1099-R section using the instructions below and click "Add Another 1099-R" on the Your 1099-R Entries screen.  Click "Ill Type myself" and next screen should be the screen below - Tell Us Which 1099-R You Have - check the correct spouse underneath where it says "This Form 1099-R belongs to ..."

The easiest method of entering the income is to use the search function

  • Log into your account if using online
  • Select Take Me to My Return (must click this before proceeding to the search)
  • Use the search function in the top right-hand corner (magnifying glass) if online - if using the desktop program use the search topics
  • Search for “1099R” and click the jump to link that appears
  • Proceed with filling out the information

You can also find this section under Federal Taxes (may say Personal if using Self Employed version) > Wages and Income > If prompted, click "Ill choose what want to work on" or "Show All" > Retirement Plans and Social Security > IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)

After I added my 1099-R’s, I then added my wife’s 1099-R under my name. Then I switched to the FORM VIEW and found the 1099 forms. I found my wife’s form (Which was under my name), then clicked the box stating it was my spouse’s form. It then switched the name and SSN! I then clicked the box not to use it next year because we won’t be pulling money out of that IRA next year.
