When I go into personal info to change my child's dependency, the screen where you select that someone can claim you as a dependent does not show up, can anyone help me?

Hello, My e-file was rejected because I am claiming my daughter who already filed so I need to change her status from dependent to nondependent on my return. When I go through the personal info section, the page that asks if you can be claimed as a dependant is on my personal info as an option, but that screen does not come up under the daughter I am trying to change status on. Hope someone can help me. Thank you.

On your daughters amended tax return, not yours,  you would check the box in the personal information section - see screenshot below.

Since amended returns take 4 months to process and the IRS will not allow another tax return to be e-field with the same SSN anytime this tax year you will need to print and mail your own return.

Amended returns can only be mailed. It is suggested that it be mailed certified with return receipt (or other tracking service) to verify that the IRS receives it.

You can check the status of the amended return here, but allow 3 weeks after mailing.

My daughter's taxes have already been accepted and processed. Do I still amend that return?

Yes, or you will both be receiving IRS letters in about a year when  the IRS matches returns.   They will want any refund you received for claiming your daughter back since she claimed herself.
