See if the TurboTax Help article Troubleshoot installation and running TurboTax for Windows is helpful.

If not, feel free to post back with more information.  For example, you might describe which version of TurboTax you’re trying to install, whether you’re using Windows or Mac, and, if you’re using Windows, which version you have installed.

From Amazon I bought and downloaded the H&B 2024 TT software for my PC and it was installed on my computer without any issues.  I then tried to open my previously purchased H&B 2023 TT software installed on my computer but it did not work.  I deleted the 2023 TT software from my computer and downloaded it again.  However, during the installation process I keep getting a prompt indicating that the file "_lmx.tropmi_pe_petsysae_lacol_tib46_rgnerepw" cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in the cabinet file "Data1.cab".   I double checked my computer settings and rebooted my system multiple times to no avail.    I do not think it is my computer settings that is preventing the software from being installed but rather a corrupt file in the downloaded files.    What can TT do to fix this download/installation problem?

Follow these steps to transfer a file from H&R Block

  1. Launch TurboTax 2024 and click Start a New Return (or go to File and select New Tax Return).
    • Don't select Continue, as transferring is only available on new, empty returns.
  2. Select the Transfer Return button on the Good News! screen.
    • You can also select Browse and in the pop-up window, select All Files (*.*) from the dropdown menu. Then browse to wherever you stored your 2023 return and select Open.
  3. Still can't find it? It might be on another computer. See this article for help in moving it to this computer.
  4. Follow any onscreen instructions. We'll give you opportunities to review, edit, or delete transferred info later on.
