When attempting to file state taxes the window just loads to a blank screen. Tried multiple browsers and devices. Anyone else experiencing this?

Some are...but usually it is for a situation where:

1) They e-filed Federal separately first, and haven't had their Fed tax return "Accepted" yet.  They have to wait for that before they can e-file the state when done separately.

or

2) The state involved isn't accepting e-filed state tax returns until later...a number of states require waiting until later in January....and some state e-file "software" forms aren't ready until after 26 January.

Fed was accepted and still just goes to a blank white screen, won’t load or do anything.

@Bigj921  , might depend on the state.  Some states aren't allowed to be e-filed yet...and at least one, I think  e-filing was stopped to correct a couple problems (Indiana)

Check back to try again on the 27th, but I seem to recall one state wasn't starting e-file until 2 or 3 Feb (don't recall which)

Before contacting Customer Support, please try logging completely out of the TurboTax website, then clear your browser's cachedelete cookies and reboot your computer. A full or corrupted cache can keep TurboTax from functioning properly. If that doesn't work, try a different browser.

I have done this, multiple times sadly. No matter the device, browser or internet connectivity. I’ll provide the steps/windows I see to hopefully make it make more sense.

opens TT (turbo tax) app > click on see all my returns. > button that says “ continue my state taxes” once clicked/tapped on a message appears “ we’ll need to leave the turbo tax app to add a state to your tax return and file again. Let’s do this now” I press ok to continue > then I have to repeat the process over again but on the website > once I get to a screen that states start state taxes, I click the button, it then shows a screen where it displays my state and tax info and of course I can add another if I so choose,  ( side note I did click on the state and ensured all info was up to date and in line with what I filled ) click done with state > loads up another screen that states it’s checking my return, it then loads to another screen showing my return amount but once I click continue on the return amount screen the screen loads and it’s blank. Absolutely nothing loads at this point. If I refresh it loads to the very first step of this whole story I’ve typed on the website…..

You can try these steps to resolve if you are using the online version:

  • Clearing your Cache and Cookies
  • Using a different browser
  • Opening an Incognito Window

I did all of this. I even had a rep on cobrowse who said all my information was correct and they can’t figure it out either

  1. Download the TTCleanStatesTool.zip file and save it to your desktop or other easy-to-find location.
  2. Double-click to open the zip folder.
  3. Extract the contents of the folder to your desktop and open the extracted folder.
  4. Right-click the downloaded file (TTCleanStates.exe) and select Run as Administrator.
  5. Select your version (Personal or Business).
  6. Select your state from the dropdown menu and choose Remove (if you're having problems with multiple states, choose Remove all States).
  7. Once the tool finishes removing the state return(s), close it and reopen TurboTax.
  8. Follow the prompts to update TurboTax at the prompt. It should start downloading your state.
    • If it doesn't, select the State Taxes tab and download it from there.
