What version of TurboTax do I need to process an irrevocable trust.

Regarding tax return for an irrevocable trust, which version of Turbo Tax should I use?

You cannot prepare a Form 1041 Estate and Trust return by using any of the TurboTax online personal tax editions including Free Edition, Deluxe, Premier and Self-Employed.  You will need to purchase a separate TurboTax Business product to do so.

TurboTax Business is a separate TurboTax product line for customers to file S Corp, C Corp, partnerships, estates, trusts and multi-member LLC.  It is not part of the TurboTax personal taxes editions.

My question is: With an irrevocable trust, do I have to fill out a From 1041. I know I need to buy a separate version of Turboxtax.

are you sure that irrevocable trust is such for income tax purposes?  who is the grantor?  who is the trustee? many taxpayers are not familiar with the IRC rules regarding grantor trusts. Thus what they think are irrevocable trusts the IRS would say are grantor trusts. there are about 10 factors the IRS considers.   since we can't see the trust agreement we have no way of knowing if it is or isn't.   ask the lawyer who drew it up.

TurboTax for Trusts no longer works on My  Microsoft Surface. It gives the  error message "System does not have the required resources"

I used TurboTax for Irrevocable trusts in 2019 and previous years and it worked fine on my Microsoft Computer. The resources TurboTax 2020 requires in their description  of required resources are the same as TurboTax 2019..

The TurboTax Technical Support people could not solve my problem though they tried. They transferred me to a Technical Support Manager. His solution was to process a refund for the money I spent to purchase TurboTax for Trusts.

Is it the same computer you used before?  What version of Windows does it run?  You need Windows 8 or higher this year.

My computer meets all of the requirements listed by Intuit. It is a Microsoft Surface. I ran the 2019 version of Business on this Computer last year without any problems. Has Intuit run the Business Version on a Surface?

I read from your information that I can't file an irrevocable trust with  turbotax  premier.  but let me ask:  if all I I am entering is 1099 DIV and 1099Int  forms is that still true.   the problem Im having is entering in the name of the trust. its asking for personal names  not the name of the trust?  Do I still need turbo tax business?

what about down loading the forms (what forms would that be) and just fill them out by hand?   That is since my information is so minimal?
