What If I didn't receive w2 from social security how do I calculate the numbers needed

I received social security benefits in 2017 but no taxes were taken out and I didn't get a w2 What do I do

Don't calculate your SSA amount and you don't get a W-2, you get a Form SSA-1099. You could get your SSA-1099 statement online.

  • You should get your SSA-1099 in the mail no later than mid-February, as they get mailed out in January.
  • If you never received yours, you can get a replacement online, by phone, or at your local Social Security office. Detailed instructions are available at the official Social Security website.
  • To get to the SSA website, click on The United States Social Security Administration. Click on Get a copy of your SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S. You will be asked questions to verify your identity before you can access your Form SSA-1099.

Social Security does not send you a W-2, that is only sent to you by your employer.  The Social Security Administration would send a form SSA-1099 for your Social Security benefits.  The form is sent every January to the address on file with the Social Security Administration.

If you have not received the SSA-1099 then go to this SSA website for information - https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/replacement-SSA-1099.html

I received my w2 form but we recently moved and in the move, I lost my form. How can I get a replacement?

Contact the employer and see if they can send a copy of the 2019 W-2 to you.
