The blue bar is used as a guide to track your refund status. It fills in more as your refund and return are processed and then sent. However, the best way to track your refund status is to use our e-file lookup tool. Please see below for more information.

My TurboTax bar was halfway yesterday but full today. Return was “accepted” feb 28. Why did it take so long to be full and does this mean I am getting my refund soon? This is the first year I did my own taxes and I’m so over it...I really need this money as I’m a single parent of two kids and ththeir father hardly pays support. Really hope this comes soon so I can finally buy my house

So if the bar is full that means the refund was sent

The only bar that has any meaning concerning a federal tax refund is the bar on the IRS website for the status of your federal tax refund - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

The bar on the TT site is MEANINGLESS so please ignore it  and  ONLY  check the IRS site for a progress report on YOUR tax return :

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

So why the difference from half green bar yesterday to full green bar today?

ALL of the TT bars of any color are USELESS and only reflect the time passing since you filed the return.  It just clicks off the IRS 21 days processing time line  and is a generic timetable.  PLEASE ignore the tool as it means nothing to you or your return.   ONLY rely on info from the fed or state directly for info on YOUR actual return ...

To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.

So my bar was blue and yesterday it finally got to the full way so does that mean I have to wait 2 more weeks to receive my refund to my direct deposit

Not necessarily, the 2 weeks listed above was specific to a user's experience with their return. Once your bar has gotten to the refund sent status, it should tell you the anticipated date @Mcclarysa187.

That "BLUE" bar on the TT site means absolutely nothing ... you should only watch the IRS/state web sites for current info on the progress of your return.

You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

Thx for this. Same happen to me last yr. If you were getting rejected turbo tax bar would not move and you would have gotten something from irs prior to 21 days advising of issues
