Turbotax Product upgrade

I purchased TurboTax Premier and downloaded exe and installed it on my PC. I signed in with my intuit/turbotax account via desktop premier app. I am trying to get TurboTax Online (some help with my tax filing). 

  • Do I have to pay again for TurboTax Online? 
  • Why cant I see my tax filinf file when I login to my account via a browser. I am signed in my desktop app and signed in my browser as well. Should the file not appear at both places?
  • Will my TurboTax Premier cost be deducted while I try to purchase TurboTax online? Of full service?

TurboTax Premier Desktop and TurboTax Online are two different products.  When you prepare your return in TurboTax Desktop, your return is stored locally on your computer or storage device, not in your online TurboTax account. If you would like to switch to TurboTax Online, please see this help article: How do I switch from TurboTax CD/Download to TurboTax Online?

If you choose to switch to TurboTax Online, you can request a refund for your TurboTax Premier Desktop product by following the steps in this help article:  How do I request a refund for my TurboTax product?

I don't think you need to get to Turbotax Online.

If you have downloaded and installed Turbotax on your desktop, you should be able to use it there.

Just because you have your data on your desktop does not mean it is duplicated and accessible online - it is not.

You can use the HELP function from inside Turbotax (desktop) by clicking the "Search" link in the upper right of your screen, next to the magnifying glass and typing your topic in the text box.

Alternately, you can search this resource for your topic, or GOOGLE your topic (precede this search with "IRS" to get the IRS instructions.

 

If you still need help with a specific topic, I suggest you add a new request for help in this forum.
