Hello,
I am almost ready to submit my Federal efile online; however, TurboTax shows the payment options for the Premium Service fee of $45. I'm confused about the fee, I bought the TurboTax Premium from Amazon for $82. I did the tax return myself, I provided the service myself, why there is an additional $45 service fee?
Can this fee be waived? Thanks.
There is an option for a $45 audit protection fee. You may have accidentally checked that box.
TurboTax Premium Service is an optional add-on package for any paid version of TurboTax Online. You don't need it to prepare/e-file your taxes.
It's described at this link: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-product-orders/premium-services/L3Eq2UXII_US_en_US
Thanks for your comment. I confirmed that I did not check on Audit Defence. I did not pay for this $45 in the past at all. I'm still confused about the charge. Please help.
Thanks, do you have step by step on how to remove it? I did not add the Audit Defence as shown in the screenshot above, but the software still charges $45. Please help.
Pay with your credit card. You do not want to pay $45 to have the $25 state e-file fee paid from your federal tax refund.
Hello all,
To conclude this, the page that shows $45 TurboTax Premium Service fee will be there regardless whether you click for the Audit Defense or not. You just need to proceed to pay with credit card, then the charge will be $25 for the CA state efile only. I hope it helps others could potentially mislead with this $45 service fee.
Per your screenshot, you can't remove Audit Defense, because you do not have it. It is asking you if want to add it, if so click on Add Audit Defense. You can continue on without adding it.
