My TT Deluxe online is not showing a running total of refund/amount due. I saw solutions in 2024 that have not worked for me, and Tech Support has been unable to solve so far. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it?
That feature has been removed from TurboTax until the user puts in their income, expenses, and deductions. Once all data is entered, go to REVIEW and then the tracker will show up again.
MISSING REFUND MONITOR
Sorry—-the “running” refund monitor that used to change as you entered data is gone. You have to get all of your income, etc. entered into the software in order to see the results.
The other place for you to look for your federal refund or federal tax due is on your Form 1040
Federal refund will be on line 35a
Federal tax due (that needs to be paid by April 15) will be on line 37
PREVIEW 1040

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
Thank you, though this is extremely disappointing. I was on the phone with tech support for over an hour, and they just learned this now, too. They told me that the desktop version still has the calculator - no change - for anyone else wanting to get it back.
I am on the desktop version and it's missing from there also

The desktop editions all have the indicator for refunds or taxes owed at the top of the desktop program screen.
I finally figured it out!! On the left menu, select Tools, then select View Tax Summary. It will show the due/refund amount there.
This is the correct answer! It shouldn't be this hard to find though. It seems like a fairly important data point for preparers to see as we go along.
You're correct. I have a few forms waiting to be completed.
Thx.
Desktop view does not have it. I can't see anything until I get to the payment page. I still cant see state even on this page though. this is so disappointing.
Thanks. Found Federal under Tax tools -> tools -> review tax summary. Still looking for state.

Does the top of your desktop program screen look like this? -
This is incredibly frustrating. Going to "Review" does NOT work. I just need to know where I stand with what I entered so far.
I am leaving Turbo Tax for an alternative. Terrible decision to remove this feature.
this is so annoying... They need to add this back... I may use a different tax product to file with, due to this missing tracker.
Intuit needs to "follow-home" and learn more about their customers, this feature clearly was not as unimportant as it was deemed.
Such a shame to not have this available. Guessing by the end of March more people will be disappointed.
All information is put in, I went to review and it tells me that due to tax law changes information is unavailable. That is crap the tax law does not change during tax season. What is the problem?
This is exactly what I want to see in the web version and it's not showing. Does anyone know how to turn this on??? This ticker is essential as I plug in information as it confirms what I expect should happen and when the ticker doesn't behave properly, I dig deeper and find the problem (which there usually is one).
I had this exact same problem last year and somehow figured out how to turn it on after hours of research, but never wrote it down. I need to keep a cheat sheet on how to use TurboTax even after a decade+ as it's so non-intuitive at times!
Like many others in this thread I will look elsewhere going forward. I have no idea why they would have got rid of this feature.
I just did my son's taxes using HR Block and the tracker was there. This is nothing to do with laws. I am leaving the Turbo Tax.
This is very bad and sort of unacceptable, specially when the mobile app still has that functionality.
Can Turbotax put that functionality back please?
This is an example of the "**bleep**tification" of online services that has been discussed in the media. Something that worked well before, and was useful, is not available anymore. I make some complicated tax entries for Roth conversions, and having a running total is important to make sure the entries are correct. Not having the running total is a deal breaker as this may result in errors on my part.
Need to find a different vendor, as TurboTax online is no longer able to provide for my needs. Too bad, as it worked just fine till last year.
