If you are dong your 1040 for 2021 you need H&B for 2021.

Hi,
I am having the same issue in TT BIZ
Turbotax Business 2023 (WINBIZ Release 023 .000 .0198)
Quickbooks Premier 2021 (Premier 2021 Product 713-413 Version v.31.0.4016.0)

QB2021 import into TT BIZ 2023 Fails to find an open and Active QB Desktop.

Message = "No Quickbooks desktop file has been found"
Have you gotten a valid response from Anyone?

Yep, having the same problem with TT Business 23 and QB 21 as well.....and it no longer gives you an option to Browse and select the QB file you want to use, so clearly not working as it should.

For Turbo Tax Business

There have been several posts from people having  trouble importing from QuickBooks so far this year.  Maybe Turbo Tax needs an update.    I've been searching on the QuickBooks support site and found this recent one for Desktop QB.

Yes, I have seen that thread as well.....in my opinion, this is not a Quickbooks issue but a TurboTax issue.  If the TT program can't find the QB file, at least keep the option for users to Browse and Select the file.

QB is trying to get their users to upgrade to any online version or to a newer QB download so some of the options in the 2021 desktop program are no longer supported.  Contact QB for more information.

In TT 2023 the app clearly says that QB 2021 is supported.

To Be Clear... I am using Desktop Turbotax (TT) Business 2023 (not Home and Business) Paired with Desktop Quickbooks (QB) Premier 2021

Hi All, My Issue with Importing Continues... I spend about 2 hours today troubleshooting with Turbo Tax Support... they finally asked me to Call Quickbooks support.  When i called Quickbooks support they Quickly Transferred me back to Turbotax.

New (and not so new) things we tried today:
1. QB - Closing the Company File (This has not been a requirement in Previous Years... didn't help)

2. QB - Moving the company file to the Desktop

3. QB - Manual Export of IIF file to Import into TT (No place to Import... dead end)
4. TT - Multiple Attempts to import via Step-by-Step and File > Import > From QB

5. TT - For the fun of it i started a New return in TTBiz2022 and it had no problems finding, displaying all my company files... and also allowed me to Browse for the files (didn't need to do this).
6. QB - Updating QB... my version is on Auto Update and is on the Current version v31.0.4016.0

7 TT - Updating TT... TT was also at the current Version 023.  000.  0201 (community software thinks thi sis a phone number so it has extra spaces to get around this issue)

Suggested Resolution:
1. 2021 Desktop is Not Supported ... TT2023 Says it is supported. Under "Improved Features * Now Compatible with Quickbooks 2021 through 2024. (no New Purchase Required)...". a Note that TT support read seemed to suggest the range may be even bigger... no idea if this is true.

2. TT 2023 Import Form has not been released by Development due to Delay in Federal Forms... Never seen this before... i have been stopped to Print/efile waiting for forms to be released/approved but never have they stopped me from working on the tax return.

It seems like no one at Intuit (TT or QB) wants to file a Bug with Development... seems they would have the answer!  Development should know what the spec is and how to fix the issue... I reached out to my Dev Contact, but i guess he has moved on.

What is a good way to escalate this to a higher level?

Last time i worked for a software company we were not allowed to Pass people blindly off to another department or to not take responsibility for when things went wrong... seems this is not the case at intuit... I talked to Several Great people today... but didn't get any results.

Having the exact same issue with the same versions - TurboTax Business 2023 with Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021. As stated by others, the TurboTax product clearly states it's compatible with QB 2021.

First let me point out that business returns are not due until 3/15 so you have time to wait for further updates.

Next the IRS just posted that the efile system will not start processing returns until 1/29 so you have time to wait.

Lastly ... if you don't want to wait ... print off the P&L , asset list and balance sheet and complete the return without the import ... with those 3 items I can have a business return done in 30 minutes or less.

I am not sure why that is helpful.

Yes you can do things manually, but that is the point of buying the software is that we should not have to.

Further, reporting the issue now and getting the bug fixed now will some in handy so i can be ready when the filing period does open.

I put trust in Intuit to do things right and deliver what the software clearly says it will do. if there is a bug for this issue please document it so we can just follow up on that issue.  spending hours on the phone with support is ridiculous.

Spent an hour with support ... they had no clue and so far no help.

Basic problem is in TT. Under File - Import - From Accounting Software ...

It ONLY LISTS         Quickbooks(2022-2024)

Helpdesk was unable to understand why or resolve.

Sent me multiple solutions that all say select Quickbooks(2019-2024). Unless and not understanding the issues.

Same with all replies from Community.

Arrggghhh

Quickbooks is no longer supporting certain functions in programs prior to 2022 so the ability to import to TT may be one of those options you can no longer do ... they want everyone to upgrade the desktop program or switch to the online subscription model.

And the FAQs still mentioning 2019 - 2024 may not be correct and need to be updated.

Not true.

Turbo Tax support logs into their system and sees 2019-2024 on the screen. Agent logged into my computer and saw my different display. But they were clueless. could not get anyone to solve and after an hour I had to quit.

Follow up email from support, just like many posts here, gave me the steps to import whcih I already know several differnt routes, all end in the same dead end! Only "2022-2024" or "No Quickbooks file found"

They have a bug ! ! And support is either unwilling or unable to log it and get a resolution. After years of good service they now are less than adequet. Unfortunately, that is all too common in multiple businesses today.

UPDATE:

I called TT support again today... no Solution yet.

The support Rep said it is a known issue with no current solution.  when i asked if there was a Bug logged, she said she didn't know... but that support Managers were aware of the issue.

As i was on the call i checked for updates, tt no updates still on version 023. 000. 0207

however, QB Premier 2021 had a critical update come through... it didn't bump the version, so we are still at 31.0.4016.0... is there a log someplace of what was updated?

end result is it didn't solve the issue... TT still fails to Import from QB2021

Thanks to everyone for posting - I'm here because I have the same issue (TT 2023 Biz not finding my QB desktop 2021).  Intuit has done everything they can to do away with those of us that use the stand alone software.  The only option now is subscription.  Other competitors are the same.  Glad I'm retiring soon so Intuit won't have any of my business any longer.  It simply shouldn't be this hard in my opinion!

I'm going to post it into TT manually since I've wasted way too much time already thanks to Intuit.

This issue is still not resolved. If you want to be helpful escalate it up the chain and let's get some action or at least a clear response from the folks at TT and or QB both of which are Intuit franchises anyway!!!!

Seems the answer is clear, there is no intent to fix this bug.

the workaround i found on other threads does work if you have the Harddrive space to support it.

You download and install the QB Enterprise 2024 Trial version...

BUT DO NOT OPEN IT BEYOND THE FIRST LAUNCH AFTER INSTALL and Reboot... ON THE FIRST SCREEN YOU WILL FIND A BUTTION TO EXIT QB... DO THIS.  Now QB 2021 will be found by TT Biz (and i think Home & Biz) and QB 2021 will open and run normally. TT23 actually opens QB 2021 to complete the process.

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/new-subscriptions/down[product key removed]books-desktop-enterprise/L04IY8YVk_US_en_US

As a backup i took note on how QB is mapped to TT in case i need to manually enter them next year.

Still looking for an On-Prem Desktop Solution without the "PLUS" Subscription. QB Sales tired to justify the 100x Price increase on inflation... and added functionality (functions i don't need or use).  At least the MS 365 Subscription was reasonable... Intuit just wants all our Profit.
