TurboTax 2021 Stuck in a loop at investment income

I answer no / none to all these investment income questions, but TT2021 keeps returning me to the first!

 

  1. Did you sell any investments in 2021? (No)
  2. Did you have investment losses you couldn't claim in 2020? (No)
  3. Did you receive a Form 2439 for 2021? (No)
  4. Any Straddles or Section 1256 Contracts? (No)
  5. Incentive Stock Options (No)
  6. Back to #1

It depends. For clarification purposes, if you didn't have investment sales, why did begin working on this section?

Because I specified to walk me through everything.

 

Regardless of whether I have investments or not, no program should get a user stuck in a loop!

 

That said, there's no clear-cut way to simply submit a bug.

 

No offense intended here, but I'm stuck having a conversation with an expert user rather than reporting a pretty significant bug?

Are you able to click on Wages & Income, Deductions & Credits, Other Tax Situations or Federal Review across the top of the screen and leave the loop?

Yep, but the point is stepping through everything ends up in a loop.

I am having the same issue where TurboTax is taking me around in a loop.

I to answer no to all questions and the loop starts over.

When will the bug patch come out?

I am having this same problem too, is there a fix to this?  Is intuit aware and looking into the issue at least?

Yes, I see your link to the problem which is still a problem with no solution, is there an ETA on the fix or I'm just sitting twiddling my thumbs until the fix is released?  I am needing to get my taxes done early for specific reasons.  Can you provide a link or instructions on how to get a refund?  So I can go with software that actually works if there's no ETA?

Use this phone number and select TurboTax - 1-800-4-INTUIT (1-800-446-8848) use the key word Billing Issue when reporting your problem and do not use the word Refund.

The solution is to go to steps and bypass "Walk me through everything" in the Investments section.

Hey Paul,

 

Thank you for advising what the solution is, at least it's a productive answer, and thank you for that.  There is too much free software out there to help with federal tax rather than paying for one that is not fully functional.

 

However, I do thank you for chiming in and helping with a positive answer.

I got in the same loop. Got past it by clicking "Wages & Income" > "Walk me through everything" > "Next income section". That moved me onto Retirement Plans and Social Security.

I have the same issue looping from "Incentive Stock Option" back up to "Here's all the investment accounts we have so far".

 

It should be a simple software quality test to step through these options!

Same loop here.  The link that was posted for the known glitch is marked SOLVED - but of course it's not really.

I'm having the same Exact Loop Problem 

Can't even back out using the Back button.  Turbotax has a Bug....please fix ASAP......

You can get out of loop by clicking on any of the links at the top of the screen, ie Wages & Income

Thanks. I did the TurboTax support FAQ, got a confirmation - will inform within 7 days.

 

Not to be sarcastic, but a software/program should not run into an infinite loop. It speaks about the quality.

If there was a thumbs-down icon, I'd click it for your snarky response. 

 

The user is identifying a technical problem (which I've also experienced), not only in the investment section but others where Turbotax simply repeats the same questions over and over. The only way to end the loop is to abandon the entire questionnaire.

 

I've used Turbotax for DECADES. I've never experienced software irritations like this before with this product.
