Turbotax 1040-SR (2021) leaves line 12c blank

lines 12a and 12b are filled and are added together with the result entered in line 12c.

That is how it should be.

 

If you are taking the "Cash contribution for individuals who do not itemize deductions" 

12a will be the Itemized Deduction amount for your filing status, 

12b will be your cash contributions you are claiming

12c will be the total of those two lines.

 

For clarification, 

 

Are you saying 12c is blank?

 

If so,

 

Is there anything listed on line 13?

 

Is line 14 the total of 12a 12b and 13?

Yes, I am saying line 12c is blank (and it should not be blank).  I am referring to the TurboTax- generated .pdf file.  12a is filled, 12b is filled, 13 is filled, 14 is filled, and 15 is filled - all with correct amounts.  Only line 12c is blank, BUT the amount that SHOULD BE in 12c has been applied to the other calculations.  It is as if the Turbo Tax programmers simply did not copy/move line 12c’s data onto the pdf.

I double checked online and desktop, 12c is showing for me. 12a is for itemized or standard deduction while 12b is any charity if standard is taken. 12c should be showing as the addition of those 2 lines. You are saying the calculations are correct, just not the form. Maybe you have some data stuck. Try this:

  1. Log out of your return
    1. Try one or more of the following:
      • Sign in using a different browser.
      • Sign in using a different device.
  2. Log back into your return.

“Data stuck”?  Why would my computer (which I power-off nightly) pick on just that one line?  I still vote for the programmers.  I agree with the responder who plans to print their return, write in the missing data, then rely on snail mail rather than risk e-filing what may be an incorrect return form.

I am having the same problem. 12a and 12b are filled out correctly. 12c is blank
