There is nothing different on this years taxes than the past 12 years. When I tried to efile, it says I must mail because of some form that can't be e filed. What form? Nothing is different.
You don’t really say which form is causing the issue, but there are certain forms that the IRS can't accept via e-file submission.
Only the forms shown in the Tax year 2023 accepted forms and schedules for individual tax returns and extensions spreadsheet on the IRS' Tax year 2023 Modernized e-File schema and business rules for individual tax returns and extensions page can be filed electronically.
There are a number of other reasons a return can’t be filed electronically. See the TurboTax Help article Why can't I e-file my return? for more information.
If this information isn’t helpful, please post back with more detail.
I simply waited until 2/6/2024...did the updates and it went through just fine. I did write in the review that the wording should be changed or added. If I didn't read the comments from others in the community to wait...I might have mailed it.
Turbo tax is not letting me efile. says to update which I have done 3 times. It says I am updated but still won't transmitt. I have gone through all the other POSSIBLE reasons for it not going through and nothing applies to me. It is the same as last year which went through in mid-february. Any help out there?
What message are you getting? Why is it telling you you can't efile?
Failed validation:there is an update available for your version of turbo tax. Before you can file electronically, you’ll need to get this update.
I checked updates three times, I get checking for updates and then your software is up to date. I tried it again this morning and it is doing the same thing. When I tried to print, it says “ your New Jersey return is currently unavailable to view, print or download because some of the forms haven’t been finalized yet”
it has a notify me when the forms are ready which I tried to do but that didn’t work either.
do you know if I can just send federal and hold state until I guess they get their stuff together?
