"Turbo tax is not telling me to mail W-2's to Kansas with my mail-in return. Do I?"

Do I send W-2's to Kansas with my mail-in return?

Yes, if you are mailing your state tax return, attach the W-2's to the return.

@sandyharder  @maamsmith  The following is from your State.

Mailing your return: Before mailing your income tax return, be sure you have:

  • completed all required information on the return;
  • written your numbers legibly in the spaces provided;
  • enclosed, but not attached, all K-19 forms;
  • enclosed Schedule S if you have a modification on line 2, if you filed as a nonresident or part-year resident, or if you itemized your deductions for Kansas;
  • enclosed Form K-40V if you are making a tax payment; and,
  • signed your return.

NOTE: If your K-40 is filed with a Kansas address, do not include a copy of your federal return; however, keep a copy of it in case KDOR requests it at a later date. If your K-40 shows an address other than Kansas, you must enclose a copy of your federal return (1040EZ, 1040A or 1040 and applicable Schedules A-F).

@sandyharder  My answer above shows what you need to include with your Kansas tax return.  You DO NOT include a copy of your Federal return if you filed with a Kansas address.  Only include your Federal return if you do not have a Kansas mailing address on your return.

What about including a copy of your Federal Return with your Kansas Return?  Does Kansas still require that?  TurboTax instructions do not say?

Actually it doesn't seem it was required to send them.
This is from the instructions straight from Kansas Department of Revenue:

"The Department of Revenue does not
require that you enclose copies of W-2s or 1099s with Form K-40,
but reserves the right to request them at a later date."

Instructions can be found here

Once you have the instructions for the tax year you need.

You can press Ctrl + F on your keyboard and search "W-2".

The quote above is from the instructions for Line 22.
